There's a fan drawn Point to Point Imperium Map available for download
at Board Game Geek:

It is for Imperium, not I3M, but it is an interesting take on how to
do the map. I have never seen much sublight movement in Imperium
(most of what I have seen is one hex distance with Monitors) because
of maintenance, so this could be a good way to redo Imperium.

Actually, it is based on the map from the second printing, that has
the puzzle cut mounted map board. So it is missing both "Smade's
Star" and "Altair." "Altair" is the blue giant with jump lines that
connect it to both "Zaggisi" and "Dingir."

What I'm really looking for is feed back if such a style of map is
appropriate. I'm thinking about redoing the maps I did for "Imperium"
& "Twilight" years ago in point-to-point style. "Twilight" is the
unpublished expansion for "Imperium." My "Twilight" map is based on
the scans of the playtest map for "Twilight" published in FFE 005
"Traveller: The Classic Games." I've always wanted to, but have never
actually played on "Twilight" map.

I have Luuru connected to another province of the Imperium that
otherwise is not on the map.

Unfortunately I can't expand much on "Twilight." Here's what little I
know from "Traveller, The Classic Games":

"The Imperium game concept implied the coming fall of the Imperium as
a result of Terran victories. There was some consideration of a
sequel (Twilight) with a second map adjoining the Imperium map. This
did not fully reflect the size of the Imperium, and a second attempt
produced a four-map expansion also Twilight."

Also included in "Traveller: The Classic Games" are two 8.5" x 11"
photographs. One of a playtest early version of "Imperium" called
"Star Fleet" that has the "Imperium" map and the one map version of
"Twilight." The second photo is the four map version of "Twilight."
Years ago I spent more hours staring at that map with a magnifying
glass than I care to think about. The four maps also have what
appears to be provincial boundaries on them. Most world boxes are
blank, but some have a triangle, or circle, or hexagon in them. I'm
not sure what these mean. Some provinces have only one such world
boxes, some have several such world boxes, and some have no such world
boxes.

That is all I know.
