Senator Jeff Merkley is seeking a Legislative Assistant or Counsel to handle judiciary, immigration, national security, and foreign relations. The portfolio has a particular focus on civil liberties relating to government surveillance programs, civil rights of LGBT and other Americans, campaign finance, and international conflict, including the war in Afghanistan. Applicants must have knowledge of legislative and administrative issues, as well as experience, in the portfolio, in addition to strong analytical and communications skills (both oral and written) and the ability to produce high-quality work under pressure in an extremely fast-paced environment.
