The Washington Office of the Wildlife Conservation
Society seeks a motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented federal
legislative/policy intern.
The responsibilities will include the following
Research and analysis of federal legislation and policy
considerations related to natural resources, international conservation
and global species
Draft memos and white papers on legislative and policy initiatives
Attend meetings, congressional briefings and hearings and produce summaries, reports and readouts
Provide support to events hosted by the WCS Washington Office
Experience
The ideal candidate should be a master's degree student with a
concentration in public policy, political affairs, natural resources
policy or a law student with a strong interest/background in legislation
and environmental policy.
Additional qualifications for an ideal candidate include
Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
Background and past work experience in wildlife conservation,
natural resources management and other federal legislative issues
pertaining to environment protection
Interest/background in federal appropriations and budget process
Willingness to perform administrative tasks as and when required
Commitment of 10-20 hours/week over a semester long period.
