Call to Action: March for Black Women- September 29, 2018 at 10:00 am

Hello all!

My name is Krystal Leaphart and I have the pleasure of serving as a steering committee member again for this years March for black women! On September 29th, 2018, Black women, cis, trans, and diverse identities, allies and comrades will unite to march for the lives of black femmes, women and girls! 

The demands are below:

• Full reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act set to expire on September 30, 2018.
• Our political hopefuls focus on intersectional women’s rights concerns like poverty, affordable housing, reproductive rights, immigration protections and center the most vulnerable.
• Remove the gag order on advocacy and prevention focused agencies forbidding the use of the words: transgender, fetus, vulnerable, science-based, evidence-based, diversity, and entitlement.

Here are some ways you can support the work!

• Attend the DC March! Register here! We will be starting on the National Mall, near the Archive Metro station, at 10:00 am.  
• Sign up to volunteer! We need healers, floaters, and street team support.  We are having our volunteer orientation September 10, 2018 at 5:00 pm. 
  
• Make a donate to help offset the costs of the march.
• Black Women and Femmes, sign up to participate in the Violence Against Women Act Advocacy Day taking place September 28 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
• Sign your group/organization to serve as a Community Partner.
