 Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking an unpaid intern to assist with  fund development for an agency with a budget of more than $56 million. Activities may include grant writing, resource prospecting, providing special event support, crafting sponsorship proposals, soliciting gifts, maintaining donor relations, assisting with gift processing, and database management. 

The ideal candidate will assist with developing appropriate collaterals to support the resource generation activities for DPR.  Other activities may include research, writing, attending public meetings and events, working with DPR's nonprofit partners, and other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or requested.

The intern will be trained in formal and informal training sessions and when embarking on new tasks. The intern will report to the Development Director  and will receive real-time feedback on performance as well as a review at the end of the internship.  A minimum of a four-month commitment is requested.

 Job Responsibilities:

The intern will experience a fast-paced, professional environment of  fund developmentmarketing, and communications.  He or she will be given the opportunity to learn about all aspects of fundraising through the lens of DPR and its various initiatives and divisions as well as learn about all facets of city government.

 Qualifications:
Education:  Pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, event management, public administration, public relations, communications, political science, or related field is preferred.  Continued enrollment in a college program is a condition of  this internship with the City and County of Denver. 

Required: Excellent communications and presentation skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  

Experience with DonorPerfect is preferred but not required.  Ability to handle multiple project
s. Strong interpersonal skills, consistency, and commitment to public service. Ability to work collaboratively is valued. Social media experience is helpful.
