3M Cordova has an opening for Manufacturing Environmental Engineering Intern to begin summer work in May/June 2013.
An intern (10-12 week assignment) position is a temporary assignment
with 3M's Corporate Student Programs. Corporate Student Programs is
designed to provide 3M with the opportunity to identify qualified
candidates for regular employment, and to provide students with the
opportunity to integrate their academic knowledge with work experience.
As a Student Programs participant you will develop skills, and gain work
experience in your field of study.
This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.
The Manufacturing Environmental Engineering Intern will work closely
with an experienced 3M professional. Responsibilities will include, but
not be limited to the following:
Completing improvement projects in relation to environmental, health and safety (EHS) processes and systems
Experimentation with process and product understanding training program improvements
This intern will be located at the Cordova, IL facility, assisting the
3M technical staff in the performance of their Job Responsibilities .
Actual projects will be tailored around the plant needs and your career
interest and skills to the greatest extent possible. You will have the
opportunity to spend time on the production floor observing our
processes and will be given assignments to assist the EHS staff in
day-to-day operations of the plant.
This position offers paid travel expenses as well as subsidized housing for non-local interns.
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect
physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies
subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense
contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and
their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and
services with certain "non-U.S. persons" (persons who are not U.S.
citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees,
"Temporary Residents" (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker
provisions), or persons granted asylum (but excluding persons in
nonimmigrant status such as H-1B, L-1, F-1, etc.) or non-U.S. citizens.
To comply with these laws, and in conjunction with the review of
candidates for those positions within 3M that may present access to
export controlled technical data, 3M must assess employees' U.S. person
status, as well as citizenship(s).

Qualifications
Basic/Minimum Qualifications :
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree OR HIGHER in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or an environmental field
Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous 3M internship experience
Previous internship experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting
Current Sophomore or Junior status if pursuing a Bachelor's degree
Interest in pursuing a career in Environmental Engineering
