Description 

Job Purpose:
Administer campus-wide undergraduate Internship program through advising, marketing and networking. Assist the Director of Undergrad Professional Internships by performing specific duties in the areas of Employer development, Student Advising/Counseling, Employment Workshops and Resource/Marketing Development. Work independently toward carrying out departmental objectives utilizing the knowledge and application of departmental and Institute policies and procedures. 

Major Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and maintenance of an effective employer relationship program; participate in the development efforts with regional and national companies through site visits, mail campaigns and marketing. Update and revise marketing materials annually. 

Provide students (within assigned majors) with individual assistance in identifying internship opportunities, career plans, and developing employment skills. Coordinate annual company visits and student interview sessions. 

Assist with developing, coordinating and facilitating training workshops to include resume preparation, interviewing skills and career planning. 

Coordinate college specific outreach, programming and seminars, workshops and programs based on student needs assessment and faculty/employer requests. Work with faculty and staff on methods to enhance student achievement in the workplace and to expand participation. 

Collect and report placement data for graduate internship opportunities, specifically for (assigned major) student using email, surveys, etc. 

Collaborate with faculty to identify student internship needs; and work with faculty to continuously improve the the internship and experiential learning process. 

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 

Work Experience:
Four to six years job related experience, to include experience in industry and within higher education

Ability to maintain strong relationships with 
current employer partners and develop new co-op positions related to 
student majors. 

Strong communication and organizational skills. Knowledge 
of Microsoft Office and reporting software preferred.

Additional Tasks May Include:
The coordinator serves as a liaison official between the University and 
employers regarding administrative and operating requirements for the 
GT internship program. 

Function as the primary contact with a 
group of students, the coordinator is responsible for creating and 
managing student employment opportunities in assigned fields and assists 
with career-related programs for undergraduate students. 

Meet 
with students one-on-one to assist them with resumes, cover letters, 
interview skills and job search techniques. He/she will respond to 
student and employer concerns while they are working and will develop 
jobs in assigned majors through networking, faculty leads and 
outreaching to new employers. 

Works closely with the academic departments in supporting the integration between academics and cooperative education. 

Runs reports to monitor and analyze student eligibility for 
internships, progress in the job search and audit credit awarded for 
internships. 

Processes paperwork for intern related major changes, 
concentration changes, and approving and entering jobs for the 
internship program. 

Department Description 

In October 2013, the Center for Career Discovery and Development was established through merging the Division of Professional Practice and the Office of Career Services. Within the Office of Undergraduate Education, the new center has the responsibility of providing cooperative education opportunities and internships for Undergraduate students as well as providing career planning and job opportunities at graduation for all Georgia Tech students. 

Experiential work-based learning is a long-standing tradition at Georgia Tech. The Institute has the fourth oldest (since 1912) and largest totally-optional cooperative education program in the United Sates. In 2002, The Cooperative Division was reorganized as the Division of Professional Practice to include undergraduate cooperative education, graduate cooperative education, The Georgia Tech Internship program, and an extensive international internship program. Each year, these four programs serve students on Georgia Tech’s Atlanta, Savannah, and Metz (France) campuses and have approximately 4200 participants working with over 1500 employers around the globe. 

Georgia Tech is seeking an Internship Coordinator. This is a full time, 12 month position and is responsible for helping students prepare for the job market. This is accomplished through collaboration with faculty, community partners and students to provide structured work/learning experiences. This position will administer campus-wide undergraduate internship program through advising, marketing and networking.
