Honeywell’s Contracts Department partners with the business to intelligently manage risk while enabling growth. Opportunities include: review of proposal terms and conditions, assessment of risk during the proposal pricing approval process, negotiation of terms and conditions, contract flow down to the internal performing functions, managing changes during development programs, contract interpretation, claims management and contract closeout. Within Defense & Space Contracts understanding and compliance with government contract terms is a key element, 

Working under limited supervision, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

• Reviewing contracts, identifying issues and proposing contractual language to address the issues. 
• Selecting appropriate standard clauses and adapting them to accommodate the particular transaction, as well as developing special clauses as needed. 
• Assessing contractual risks, proposing negotiation strategies and plans, and reaching agreements with customers that appropriately allocate risk. 
• Identifying, understanding, strategizing, and taking initiative to resolve business and contractual issues which arise in the course of business, including disputes and claims. 
• Working independently and engaging the appropriate function(s) to resolve issues. 

The Intern position will be based at one of our sites in the Greater Phoenix metro area, Arizona. Local Candidates only - No relocation/housing assistance will be provided. 

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications: 

• Must have completed minimum of two (2) years towards a Juris Doctorate, as of May 2013 or 1 year towards MBA, from an accredited college or university 
• Due to defense related work, must be a U.S. citizen 
• Must be able to participate in an internship prior to completing degree 

Additional Qualifications: 

• Undergraduate degree, in engineering or business, a plus 
• Prior experience, in engineering, manufacturing or aerospace, a plus 
• Strong problem solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to interact with various disciplines within the organization 
• Can communicate effectively, both verbal and written, to all levels of the organization 
• Capable of presenting material to senior level management and external customers in a clear and concise manner 
• Ability to make sound business recommendations for management decisions 
• Ability to develop a basic knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
