Dear WG Members,

Announcing our next seminar from Dr. Sesan Ajina , happening next Thursday @ 10am ET!

Title: Beyond Endpoints: Why Imaging is the Most Direct Window into Cell Biology

Abstract: Traditional in vitro assays often rely on endpoint measurements such as viability, luminescence, absorbance or molecular markers. While these methods provide valuable information, they frequently capture only a small fraction of the biological story. Cells are dynamic systems that continuously change shape, migrate, diff erentiate, divide, interact and respond to environmental stimuli. Understanding these behaviors requires observing biology as it unfolds. Advances in high-throughput imaging, computer vision, and machine learning have transformed imaging from a visualization tool into a quantitative analytical platform. Modern imaging-based assays can simultaneously measure cellular growth, morphology, protein expression, motility, toxicity responses, cell-cell interactions, and phenotypic transitions at single-cell resolution and across entire populations. In this webinar, we will explore why imaging provides the most direct and information-rich representation of cellular behavior, how phenomics is reshaping drug discovery and biological research, and how AI-powered platforms such as iLABS convert microscopy data into actionable biological insights. Attendees will learn how imaging-based workfl ows can improve assay sensitivity, reveal hidden phenotypes, reduce experimental bias, and accelerate decision-making in drug discovery and translational research.
