Hey list, quick sanity check. Am I missing something, or is the only
way to get IMMS currently to download the source and compile it
yourself? If so, do we want to compile some plugins and have them
available on the site? It might make it easier for non-technical users
to use, thus making it easier to increase popularity. We could also do
things like ask to be added to the Audacious plugin list (
http://audacious-media-player.org/plugins ).

What do you think?

Ahh, you're right. That's great! Thanks! :)

Would it be helpful if we mirrored your packages on the
imms.luminal.org site? Or posted a link to a repository? Perhaps I
will add a note on the download page saying "If you're on debian you
can download imms with 'apt-get install imms-common', if that's okay.

Some distributions have imms packaged and the best way to install it
is to use the package manager. For sure it's true for Debian (which
personally I take care for), Ubuntu and - iirc - there is also someone

packaging it for Fedora. I think this covers the majority of non-technical
people.

I like this idea.

I think link to http://packages.debian.org/imms-audacious (currently only
this one is available in Debian) shall be sufficient.

Just s/imms-common/imms-audacious/ :)

I mentioned how to install IMMS for Debian, Ubuntu, Arch, and Fedora
on the imms Downloads page ( http://imms.luminal.org/download ), as
well as mentioning Joel's Quod Libet plugin. Thanks to everyone for
the replies and information.

If you're a package maintainer or you have a plugin for a different
music player just shout and I can add you to the page.
