I opened up rivatuner statistics server for analysis and indeed, the in game cap has horrid frame pacing. However, capping at my desired FPS (144) using rivatuner statistics server yielded perfectly even and consist frame times. No more stuttering at 144!
For those who don't know what rivatuner statistics server is - it's an addon to MSI Afterburner. It has features to monitor GPU Usage, CPU Usage, framerate, and frametimes using an overlay over your game (think FRAPS but with much more). It also has a built in feature to cap your game at a desired framerate. This is custom code built into rivatuner statistics server, it's not using the game's built in cap which gives awful frametimes.
Solution: Simply use Riva Tuner statistics server and cap the renderer at 30 or 60 FPS. Lots of games have this issue, menus will run without frame rate limiter or V-Sync and they skyrocket at 1000+ fps, killing your GPU. This is more evident in MSFS because you'll stay in the update window way longer than you would do in a game menu.
Instead download RTSS ( -details/rtss-rivatuner-statistics-server-download.html) and limit your FPS via this software externally. It completely removes any stuttering from the game and makes the PC port feel so much smoother! The difference is night and day!
I've been encountering a perplexing issue with MSI Afterburner while trying to use its overlay feature in CS2. Every time I launch CS2, I get the following error message in the console: "warning: file verification failure. denied a request to load '??\d:\programas\msi\rivatuner statistics server\rtsshooks64.dll".
