Konventikelwesen und Auswanderung
|
| |
These books cover the Altelutheranische (Old Lutheran) emigration from Pommern to North America and Australia around the period of 1834 to 1844. The Old Lutherans dissented to Friedrich Wilhelm III's forced compliance with the Prussian Union of Churches, leaving Pomerania for religious freedom elsewhere. |

Emigration Project Update |
| |
Our photographer returned from his trip in Szczecin, having completed 40 books (and kindly copying over a few others he found at no additional charge). Another thirteen of these books arrived yesterday--including the remaining Konventikelwesen from Naugard (I found my Krüger family from Fanger!). Most of these have already been uploaded and accessible through our Drive, even if they are not linked in individually on the website yet. More are expected to arrive soon. |

Can you read old script? If so, we are looking for your help to make our photographed pages more easily accessible and searchable. Not everyone can read Kurrentschrift and Sütterlin, and transcribing the most important information from these pages makes research accessible to more people.
Please email ch...@mypomerania.com for more information. |

Join us in exploring our new feature! Tentatively called the "One Pomeranian Library," the goal is to compile a list of resources regarding our heritage and link those to holding institutions, groups, and individuals.
Do you have a book on Pomerania? Would you be willing to help others if they need a look-up? Please consider sending an email to ch...@mypomerania.com with titles and the best contact information to reach you. I will be sporadically updating this list with the latest additions.
Special thanks to Linda Herrick and the Pommerscher Verein Freistadt for making this joint collaboration possible! |

We have promised never to charge anyone for access to our online collections. To keep that promise, we need your help. Please consider giving a small gift of money to sponsor our work. |

Dear Readers,
I'll keep this short. I know I sent out an email a week ago. However, more records arrived, and I wanted you to quickly let you know they are online.
Remember you can always see what we've updated through our inventory page. You can also directly access our Google Drive records portal. These are open to the public and do not require any sort of membership in order to view them.
Cheers! |
