To: IGGP-L <igg...@genealogy.net>

Hello partners and friends,

The IGGP is excited to announce that there will be a 2023 International German Genealogy Partnership conference, both in-person and virtual, and our co-host will be the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA.

The conference will take place Friday, June 9 through Sunday, June 11, with the partner Leadership Day on Thursday, June 8. We will be meeting in the Fort Wayne Conference Center, and the Allen County Public library team is anxious to welcome us both to Fort Wayne and the Genealogy Center at the library.

Fort Wayne is known as a “very German town,” and the city is looking forward to working with IGGP to produce a fun and informative event. It so happens that the city’s annual German Fest is taking place the same weekend, and we hope that will enhance our social activities.

Connections sessions will be a focus of attention as will the recruitment of speakers who are experts in the area of German genealogy, history and culture. And in the time of covid, we will have virtual components for those who are unable to travel to attend..

Without a local partner society acting as the host, all of us across the partnership will have to contribute to make this a successful conference. There’s enough work for everyone!

The first thing each society can do is share the attached flyer to your members and through your websites and social media channels to begin the process of publicizing the conference. You might even share it with libraries, archives, museums and others in your area.

Our co-host – experienced conference planners that they are – is already at work on venues, hotels and other local logistics. The IGGP, with only a year to go, must start work on speaker recruitment, planning Connections sessions and Leadership Day, among other tasks. Please review the list of committees (below) for which volunteers are needed and let us know what you can do to help. Include your members in the request for volunteers; we want every partner society on every continent to be as engaged as possible.

Send names, email addresses and committee(s) of choice to in...@iggp.org. The committees are listed in order of urgency for work to begin.
