Once you start the server, how do you shut it down? I started it by
typing isk-daemon.py as root.
It logs to the command line - I'm on Ubuntu. When I hit ctrl-c it
just says expection and keeps running. Is there a better way to start
and stop the service?

isk-daemon has an admin page to startup and shutdown the system.

check what port currently you configured. as a default port is 31128.

just type in the browser http://localhost:31128

Thank you - I seem to have a problem with the admin page. When I open
localhost:31128/ I get only this:
Directory listing for /
Filename Size Content type Content encoding

No options to control the server.
I don't see any errors in the log or standard out..

How does everyone start the daemon so its running as a background
task?

I see now --- Sorry - I can change the startAsDaemon setting in the
settings.py to TRUE.

check your admin page is on the document root of the apache server. or make a virtual host on it and points to the web files of isk-daemon server with the specified port of your settings.py
