Hello sami_film, Take a look at your drives, using windows explorer, to see if you have another cdrom drive. If you normally have your main hard-drive as C, and perhaps a built-in cd/dvd-rom drive as D, then see if another cdrom drive letter, like E or greater is there. If it is, this is the virtual cdrom drive (aka VCD) created automatically by the WD drive. If the VCD is there, then explore it, and look for a file named: WD Smartware.exe Double-Click on this file to install your drivers. If you do not get results after doing this, then goto Device Manager, Right-Click on the WD-drive, and choose Update Driver, then point it to the folder on the VCD, found in: Extras\WD SES Device Driver\ Or, if you do not want to use the Encryption feature offered by the WD drive, then you can take a look at this post: -Passport-for-PC/HowTo-Remove-VCD-and-Have-no-SES-Install-messages-only-once-per/td-p/22734 The post describes how to disable the virtual cdrom and SES device (this device provides the encryption feature). This will make the WD drive operate just like any standard USB drive. You only have to follow this procedure once, and then you will have no more SES install messages and no VCD will appear in your drives list. Cheers, Matt
Install the updated wd smartware software onto your drive then go to the virtual cd and open the extras folder then open the wd ses folder copy all the files in this folder to c:\windows\system32\drivers then go to device manager then update the driver by using search my hard drive browse to the underlined folder then select install, then uninstall wd smartware.
Tengo tres unidades de disco USB externos, un Toshiba, otro LG y el ltimo comprado es el WD, cada uno lo uso para almacenar cosas distintas, en uno mis documentos, en otro mi msica y el WD mis imgenes, adems de tener tres discos HD fijos que suman 1.8TB en mi CPU, por el problema de virus y lo inestable que puede volverse el Windows (todas las versiones), prefiero tener mi informacin fuera de mi mquina y solo luego de procesarla la almaceno el los HD-USB externos.
The driver you are looking for is on a virtual CD on the new drive. To install it go to my computer select the C/D WD Smartwave and then click the WD smartware folder and then the ses driver version for your O/S. Ditto for the S.martware program. Works fine someone just skipped a few instructions. Ciao.
Hace unos das grab varios dvd y funcionaba perfectamente, hoy ya ni siquiera podra reproducir un dvd y lo nico que hice en estos ltimos das ha sido actualizar windows y usar un disco duro externo nuevo para lo que se instal automticamente sus controladores.
Yo no soy experto en informtica pero creo que el problema se debe al controlador cuya ltima versin es de 21 junio 2006 y posiblemente compatible con windows vista, pero aunque windows 8 a 64 bits lo reconoce en cuanto hay un cambio en windows 8, ste ya no lo reconoce.
Ya he tenido este problema varias veces y slo llevo tres semanas con este porttil, HP Envy dv6-7203es, y aunque he utilizado ambos mtodos mencionados, he comprobado que el programa de microsoft "CDDVDWin8" que se descarga del primer enlace no siempre soluciona el problema, por lo que slo es posible la segunda opcin.
Resumiendo, mientras HP no distribuya una actualizacin con un controlador de hp DVD-RAM UJ8D1 para Windows 8 a 64 bits, la mejor solucin es desinstalar la unidad desde el administrador de dispositivos y reiniciar el ordenador, cada vez que tengamos un problema con esta unidad DVD-CD Rom.
Desde hace un par de das mi hp pavilion dv6 no lee dvds pero si cds, no puedo grabar DVDs ni reproducirlos. He probado a reinstalar el controlador, actualizarlo y los dos enlaces que aparecen en este foro. Despus de todo eso, sigo teniendo el mismo problema, alguien me puede ayudar?
No entiendo bien lo que comentas de desistalar el controlador y volverlo a reinstalar. No es que desinstales el controlador sino que desinstales la unidad DVD. Disculpame si no te entendi bien. Para desinstar la unidad DVD-CD Rom sigue estos pasos.
Y vers que aparece esta unidad, pincha sobre ella con el botn derecho del ratn y entre las opciones que aparecern, pulsa sobre desinstalar, saltar una advertencia diciendo que te dispones a desinstalar este dispositivo, y pulsa en aceptar, y se iniciar la desinstalacin de esta unidad.
