NMDCC Kochi- Telecast details through Doordarshan

Dear Sir,

This year, the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee, Kochi was
unanimous in recognising that this is the era of electronic media and
we need to exploit the new situation through innovative and
progressive ideas to reach to the masses and hence decided to promote
few programmes for telecast through leading television channels. The
Committee is now proud to state that the response to these programmes
both from the visual media and the maritime community well exceeded
our expectations and are now being telecast through various channels
of Doordarshan including the national channel.

To begin with, for the next seven SUNDAYS at 08:30 PM, from 10.07.2011
onwards, Doodarshan (Malayalam) will telecast Ladies Chat show
followed by Maritime Quiz (Juniors). In the Chat show, led by leading
media personality Ms. Ranjini Menon, a group of around 30 ladies, from
wives to mothers to mothers-in-law of mariners will share their
experiences with mariner partners. I am sure, this will not only be
enlightening to the budding mariners and their anxious families, but
shall prompt the existing mariners to introspect and recognise their
vital role and significance in this new world of nuclear families.
Through the Maritime Quiz (Juniors)- a unique programme led by
prominent journalist Shri.K.Pradeep exclusively for the school
students- the committee hopes to create  awareness and curiosity
amongst the upcoming generation on the maritime subjects and the
avenues which it opens before them.

Doordarshan, through its national channels, DD-I & DD (Bharati), will
then bring to you, two other programmes – a Maritime Quiz Competition
exclusively for the students of DGS approved Maritime institutes and a
panel discussions on the current maritime topic with the participation
of eminent shipping personalities. While the Maritime Quiz needs no
introduction due to its successful conduct in the previous years,
Panel discussion on “Coast Shipping- An introspection” led by the
Director General of Shipping himself was organized by the committee
before a selected audience at Kochi, which we now bring to the masses
recognising its relevance.

On behalf of NMDCC, Kochi, I take this opportunity to thank the entire
maritime community for supporting us, particularly, the training
institutes who participated in the Quiz programmes, senior
representatives from shipping industry who participated in the Panel
discussions and finally our media partners, viz. Marine Biz TV and
Doordarshan. The committee also extends its gratitude to our sponsors
from the industry, Eurotech Maritime Academy (Kochi), CMC Group of
institutions (Coimbatore), Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Ocean Sparkle

these budding mariners.

through various Channels, final brochure of which will be forwarded to
you on confirmation of schedule from Doordarshan. Please support us by
spending a bit of your valuable time to watch them and comment. We
admit the flaws expected of a beginner, but assure you to correct,
improve and come back with more innovative and constructive programmes
in the years to come….
