As noted in https://github.com/karelia/iMedia/issues/50 , the Flickr parser’s drag and drop support has been broken for many months now.
Happily, I have a fix submitted as https://github.com/karelia/iMedia/pull/82
Does anybody have any objections?

Also, there doesn’t seem to be anyone particularly maintaining that parser; its commits are a mixture of Dan’s and Peter’s from 2010. Anybody want to claim it?

The Flickr parser is mostly Christoph's creation and responsibility. Not sure whether he's still willing to maintain it. Christoph?

Longer term I think it would make sense to draw the line somewhere and require that support for 3rd party services such as Flickr be provided through "iMedia plugins" of some kind. I wonder if this is too much to take on for the 3.0 iMedia release?

The void of leadership problem is one reason, but also to take pressure off the core iMedia team to keep so much code up to date. What happens when Picasa support comes along (as was recently suggested)? Pinboard? Etc.

I also have a personal interest in keeping core iMedia "lean" because I don't take advantage of all the parsers that are included in the core project. For this reason I actually tweak my fork of iMedia to avoid building or including the Flickr parser.

Right, the Flickr parser is mostly my creation. Since I had little time lately to push the feature further, and since I also don't use the Flickr parser in my own project, I have no objections against any body else taking the leadership position for this feature and improving the code.

Cheers,
Christoph
