The Mariachi Clown comes to Greenville, SC!

Palmetto Luna Arts is proud to bring you the Mariachi Clown, a three person show of living statues that wear the traditional mariachi attire in the colors of the Mexican flag: green, white and red. Mariachi Clown will perform this coming Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 6 PM at Misión San Sebastián church, located on 2300 Old Bucombe Rd, Greenville, SC 29609.

The mariachi is one of Mexico’s most important traditions.  As a Mexican symbol, it is proudly admired by many people from different countries. A mariachi is known to be courteous and a gentlemen, but how about a mariachi that performs scenic dances and humorous improvisations while interpreting Mexican music?

”I promise you have never, ever seen something like this” Said Ivan Segura, Executive Director of Palmetto Luna Arts. “This is one of those rare instances in which we get to see something of this nature in the state of South Carolina. It is, definitely, a colorful, folkloric, and entertaining show for everyone. You do not want to miss it”.

Mariachi Clown is a 45 minutes, family oriented wordless performance where three mariachis, in their attempts to perform Mexican music, end up carrying out a series of scenic games and humorist improvisations. The group is part of the Cornisa 20 Theatrical Group that’s based out of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico.

Mariachi Clown performance is organized by Palmetto Luna Arts in collaboration with  the NC Outreach Office of the Institute of Attention to the Migrant Worker of the government of the state of Guanajuato, Mexico and Misión San Sebastián Church.  The event is supported by a Grant received by the SC Arts Commission.

Palmetto Luna Arts is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization and our mission is to foster an understanding of the Hispanic/Latino culture by promoting artistic creation and providing opportunities for cultural expression for the community in South Carolina.
