The RV34x Series Dual-WAN VPN Router is an easy-to-use, flexible, high-performance device that is well-suited for small businesses. With added security features such as Web Filtering, Application Control, and IP Source Guard, this router series delivers highly secure, broadband, wired connectivity to small offices and remote employees. These new security features also provide the ease of fine tuning permitted activity on the network.
The new router firmware releases are updates with added features and bug fixes that resolve issues present in the previous firmware versions. The performance of a network device can be enhanced with the latest firmware.
It is recommended to upgrade the firmare of the router during off hours to avoid any disruption to your work as the router will have to reboot during the upgrade process. As a best practice, backup your configuration prior to upgrading the firmware. You can do this by navigating to Administration > Configuration Management in the menu. Copy and save the running configuration to the startup configuration. You can also download a copy of the running configuration to your PC. During a firmware upgrade, do not try to go online, turn off the device, shut down the PC, or interrupt the process in any way until the operation is complete. This process takes about a few minutes, including the reboot process. Interrupting the upgrade process at specific points when the flash memory is being written to may corrupt it and render the device unusable.
(Optional) To reset all configuration or settings to factory defaults upon reboot after upgrading, check its corresponding check box under the Upgrade From area. In this example, the reset check box is left unchecked.
Log back in to the web-based utility. Scroll to the System Information area to verify that the router firmware has been upgraded. The Current Firmware Version area should now display the upgraded firmware version.
I was not able to check the logs with my customer due to the fact they rolled the firmware back before I could grab a log. I can tell you both of my WAN connections were active and you could run the diagnostics ping and traceroute to yahoo and google (both dns and ip). Inside the network natta (dns or ip) everything dies at the router. No inbound VPN connections could be established. If
I get the chance to try it for a third time I will pull a log if we have to do a roll back. In looking at the release notes the only new feature was "Scheduled Reboot feature allows users to automatically restart the device or wireless radios at a configured time.". There are also 8 bug fixes and 1 enhancement request. None of them jumped out as a probable suspect. Hopefully they come out with an update as it seems to be a few folks already affected.
Basically from the router I can reach everything on both LAN and WAN sides, but from LAN I cannot reach WAN and from WAN I cannot reach LAN (and here I mean with both SSL VPN and with the forwarded ports); from LAN I can only reach the router (and anything else inside the LAN)
I did the update remotely late last night. I had to come in early to check on the issue. I am having the same problem. After checking logs and before and after rollback, I found this. There is a large window of nothing. Also, the DATE is all wrong after the update.
I have a weird one.. I've reset the router to its factory default WITH the new firmware (1.0.03.24) and ran thru the setup. So far so good! I've added my vlan 1 by 1 (I have 4 of those with dhcp relay to an external DHCP server). The first 3 works as expected. When I tried with my last one, the second I applied, I lost contact with the router. But that's not the weird part... While it was not responding, I disconnected one by one all LAN ports and WAN port... still dead Then I disconnected a USB key that I had in USB2 port for config backups. The router immediately began responding!!! The only way this could possibly be for what I know is that the router considered the device in the USB port as a modem.
For the moment, it looks as a working setup but I'm not sure to keep the latest firmware... I'm thinking about rolling back and wait for a more stable version. I'll keep you informed if I find something else.
Some rules for exception vlan crossing, 3 port lag to the first switch on the network which is a 3 gig from switch to switch on the opposite end of building. Over all, I have been impressed with the RV340..
Like I said before, after update, some services appear to not be working. icmp mostly if I was to narrow the cause. No dns, no ping to the other side, no router name advertisement (I noticed this with a network scan - The name of the router didn't show). DHCP works, I was able to get one wirelessly. But this required a quick fix and that was to drop back to 1.0.03.22.
Hello
My router is now about two weeks in operation. It's running with multiple vlans, one AnyConnect VPN tunnel and multiple SSIDs. From the beginning it seemed to work fine after i realised that all devices were connected over the 2.4 GHz band.
I created a new SSID with only 5 GHz and tried to connect some devices without success. None of my devices (Samrtphones, Windows Laptops) can connect to the 5G band even it is visible. Windows just tells me "Can't connect to this network." and the Android phones "Connecting...".
I tried different chanels, bandwidths, passwords and encryptions also without succsess.
Thank You
Mateo
I have the same issue connecting to the 5G Wifi, both for the initial unit bought, and the replacement unit from Cisco. The 5G is active, LED indicator on the router shows it's working, the network can be detected by my Mac and all the iOS and Android devices, using NetSpot on my Mac shows very satisfactory signal strength of the 5G network, yet no matter from which device I try connecting to the 5G, it just prompts back the password is not correct and connection failed.
Could you please let me know how can I get online assistance, without phoning UK from Serbia? Or just point me out where can I find online insutructions how to handle trouble with 5G WiFi of RV340w,m or a contact email.
Hi, I am having the exact same problem with an RV340. Even bought a brand new one, same problem. Low 5ghz signal, and sudden disconnects until the radio is enabled and disabled. Its really disappointing for a small business router to have such low 5ghz signal and unreliable connection. Yes, using the latest firmware. Please help!
I had the ticket open with Cisco regarding the WiFi connectivity problems in the 5Ghz band. That was about 18 month ago or so. All the problems were with 5GHz band, and the biggest problem I had was that WiFi connection would be established on my devices (Windows laptops and Apple cell phones), but no data would go through. I can confirm that this problem has been fixed in the recent firmware releases. Another issue that I raised at the time was WiFi calling on older Apple iPhones (e.g., version 6), where no sound can be heard on the iPhone used for WiFi calling. I never finished the testing (my fault), but later I came across this article, which may explain my difficulties with WiFi calling on older Apple devices. So, one word of advice - set your DTIM period to 3 in advanced WiFi settings on 5GHz band. By default that setting is 1.
Low WiFi signal was not my experience. The signal was definitely strong. In fact I even lowered transmission power to 50%. If your signal is weak, you may be dealing with a hardware issue (i.e. a faulty device).
Regarding the signal strength, yeah it is really weak. Even with a brand new RV340, and even with my laptop right above the router, (with a signal/site survey), the signal is really weak. Maybe I was unlucky twice? I will open a ticket and report back, unless anyone has a suggestion (any suggestion is appreciated).
Since almost an year I own RV340, 5G wireless is not working at all whatever I do. Read whole thread above and tried everything explained but with no stable success. I'm waiting for openwrt or dd-wrt firmware to be released for this router as my last hope. This router is nothing more but a piece of crap! It is appropriate for very very small business with only 2.4G clients
I have the latest firmware (1.0.03.15) on my Cisco RV340W and it worked OK for a bit, but now I cannot access the Web GUI to manage the router. I've removed power twice but trying to access the router gives me a timeout error with any browser. I'm a bit of a novice with these devices, but have 3 in various offices and all three with this firmware are having issues. Can someone please tell me what my next steps are to fix this issue where I can't access the GUI? The router seems to be functioning - Internet access, port forwarding, etc. Is there a way to command line in and repair the firmware? I really do NOT want to have to reset as there was a lot of configurations on this router that would all have to be redone.
Hi, this is not an IP address issue. The router is currently functioning and is pingable at it's address. The Web GUI just simply does not work. I'm not following how the router MAC address comes into play here.
The RV34x often needs rebooting to regain access to the Web UI. After a few days or a few weeks, the router's UI becomes unresponsive from either LAN or WAN. It effectively stops responding to port 443 altogether. The only recourse is to have someone cycle its power switch. ALL RV34x's DO THIS!! I'm sure most users find it exacerbating, inconvenient, often costly and entirely ridiculous.
