Afterstarting this project way back in 2017 and stopping and restarting several times due to other life priorities, I am pleased to say that this is all now working and the original CDC player in my Alfa GT is functional again - woohoo. I have found that learning the above things to be very rewarding and a lot of fun and I must say that working in the Arduino environment has been really nice.
