Young adults in South Africa are at the epicenter of the HIV epidemic. The prevalence of HIV among young people in the province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is particularly high. This study characterizes inkwari (Zulu word for raves or weekend-long parties) in eThekwini District, KZN and explored how these place-based dynamics shape the risk environment for the young adult attendees. In 2011, 13 qualitative interviews were conducted with men and women between 18 and 30 years-old who reported unprotected sex with at least one casual partner in the prior 3 months and attended an inkwari in the same time period. Interviews were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Nine key informant interviews helped to triangulate these data. Five women and eight men were interviewed and the mean age was 25 years (SD 3.24). Ten reported meeting a sexual partner at an inkwari. Inkwari were characterized as sexualized settings with limited adult supervision. Participants attended inkwari to socialize with peers, use drugs and alcohol, and meet sexual partners. Sexual and physical violence also occurred at inkwari. Given the convergence of social, sexual, and substance-using networks at inkwari, further inquiry is needed to determine how this place may potentiate HIV transmission risk in an endemic setting.

Zonke Dikana (born 11 October 1979), known simply as Zonke, is a South African singer-songwriter and record producer.[1] Her rise to stardom came in 2011 following the release of her third album, Ina Ethe, which was certified double platinum and was nominated at the 18th South African Music Awards.[2][3] In 2013, she recorded and released Give and Take Live, which was certified gold just two months after its release[3] and earned her a place in the Channel O list of "Africa's Top 10 Female Singing Sensations".[4] In September 2015, Zonke released Work of Heart, her fifth album, to critical acclaim with nominations in several categories at the 15th Metro FM Music Awards and 22nd South African Music Awards.[5] She signed a record deal to Sony Music Entertainment in 2013.[6] On 15 June 2018, she released L.O.V.E, her fifth studio album, with Sony.[7]

Zonke was born in KwaZakhele, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Her father, Vuyisile Dikana, was a drummer for a group called Black Slave and the Flamingo while her late stepmother Anneline Malebo was a singer for a musical band known as Joy.[8] She is an alumna of the University of the Free State, from where she graduated with a degree in human resource management in 1997.[9]

During Zonke's early years as a singer, Chippa introduced her to several artists, including Ringo, Joe Nina and Deborah Fraser, who she worked with either in writing or vocal capabilities. Zonke had her big break when she wrote a song titled "Africa, My Motherland" for the band Jazzkantine, based in Germany.[10] The band later became known as Culture Clan after Zonke and the rappers Mandla and Mzo.[11]

Everytown Research & Policy is a program of Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, an independent, non-partisan organization dedicated to understanding and reducing gun violence. Type 3: Also known as infibulation, this is the narrowing of the vaginal opening through the creation of a covering seal. The seal is formed by cutting and repositioning the labia minora, or labia majora, sometimes through stitching, with or without removal of the clitoral prepuce/clitoral hood and glans.

Meet Dineo Zonke Maduna, a full time traveller from South Africa. As of this writing, Dineo has been travelling full time for 10 months and she is not stopping any time soon. She is one of the few Africans that I know of that live on the road full-time.

At first my parents thought I was joking as many others did. But I sat them down and told them my plans. Luckily, they have always known that I have I love for traveling so they were and still are fully supportive of my decision to travel full-time.

All the time. But I know that there are many digital nomads out there that work remotely so it is up to me to educate myself and better my skills so that I continue to make money remotely.

2.1 In April 2006, the author, then deputy chairperson of the Gomel regional branch of the United Civic Party organization, printed out and distributed leaflets, informing the Gomel population about a meeting intended to take place in this city, on 25 April 2006, without however indicating either exact place or time of the event. When the leaflets were distributed, the author, as an organizer, had yet not received the authorization of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee to conduct the event in question. Under article 8 of the Law on Mass Events of 30 December 1997, before receiving authorization to hold a mass event, the organizer(s) or other persons have no right to announce in mass media information concerning the date, place and the time of its holding, or to prepare and distribute leaflets, posters and other materials in this regard.

5.5 The author further notes that in his case, the courts failed to explain how the limitations of his rights under articles 19 and 21 of the Covenant were justified. Similarly, the State party in its replies has also failed to explain why the limitations on the author disseminating information on a future meeting with a known politician and citizens and information concerning a peaceful assembly were necessary for the purposes of the legitimate aims listed in article 19, paragraph 3, and the second sentence of article 21 of the Covenant.

The four-year, Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded initiative, Imagining Futures, stems from the question of who decides what should continue to be remembered into the future and how. It aims to bring to the fore the many voices that create history, and the importance of co-existing narratives. These it seeks to activate beyond their resting place in archives, archaeological sites, galleries, libraries, and museums.

The team will do this through creating protocols for egalitarian archival practices. Their interdisciplinary network will connect creators and institutions in Africa, the Middle East, North America and Europe, including the UK. It will include people working across memory institutions and in regions experiencing post-conflict, displacement and reconstruction.

By allowing archives to be formed by drawing on local knowledges and joint decision-making it is hoped the collections will be better able to counter stereotypes, discrimination, and the lack of appreciation for shared histories. The research team hope this could help to reduce conflict within and between groups, and make sure the interests of millions who live in precarious conditions are not excluded. They will advocate for culture's role in building just, peaceful, inclusive societies and for its official recognition as a human need.

On a technical note, assuming that the population of LPM's eventually reach the regulated 50.000 unit level, the NGB central monitoring system will have to gather data from approximately 17,000 sites (assuming an average of 3 LP M's per site. 5 LPM's is maximum) each day. Each upload of data is in the majority over standard Telkom dial up lines. and takes approximately 4 minutes from initial connection through verification, through data upload, to closure. This is a total of I .133 hours. assuming this had to be captured in an 8-hour shift, then 141 simultaneous telephone connections would have to be sustained throughout that period. Assuming that only 50/o of the connections could not be made automatically because of Site Data Logger line or exchange malfunction, manual connection would need to be established to acquire the necessary data, from 850 sites, taking just 5-minutes per call. this would require nine full-time operators to gather the manual data. It is important to note that national regulations call for each LPM to Switch itself oft' automatically if data has not been gathered in the preceding 72-hours. Using one NGB system. places the provinces ability to maximise LPM tax revenues at greater risk.

In conclusion we believe that to ''place all of ones eggs in one basket", places the provincial gambling boards at considerable risk in the execution of their gaming responsibilities. Rather a. low those provinces who have the LPM al location. which would support their own infrastructure (generally accepted at around 4000 units). to operate or subcontract the operation of their own systems and to include in the act the requirement that those systems meet the SABS specification 1718, which is an integral part of the legislation. After all it does not cost the provincial earnblin2 board's one cent to operate the system. this is ultimately paid by the Route Operator, and whether it is 6% of the LPM's gross take at national level or provincial level, makes no difference whatsoever. In fact the opportunities for local employment. and skills transfer to local people is greatly enhanced.
