The review of applications will begin immediately and the selected candidates will be interviewed in New York City in April 2010. The salary scale for Assistant Professors is 12,540 - 14,500 Saudi Riyals (SR), for Associate Professors 16,000 - 18,000 SR and for Full Professors 20,000 - 22,000 SR per month for a 12 month period. Faculty members can earn an additional two summer months of pay from their research grants. There is also an additional 25,000 SR annual housing allowance and a onetime 18,000 SR furniture allowance. Saudi Arabia is a tax free country and the preceding salary amounts are take-home net pay. Faculty members also receive two months of paid summer vacation. The currency exchange rate is approximately 3.75 Saudi Riyals to 1 USD. The language of instruction at Tabuk University is English, and due to the presence of a very large expatriate international community, applicants for these positions do not have to be Arabic speakers. We are seeking a Research Associate to work in all areas of genetic association studies. The research group has a rich source of data, taken from patients at Hammersmith and international collaborative partners, and is currently leading the largest SLE GWAS in the world. The new GWAS dataset will be completed during 2010 and the successful candidate will be an important part of this project. The person appointed will become part of a multidisciplinary group that uses a variety of genetic and molecular immunology tools to identify novel susceptibility genes for lupus and to seek understanding of their function.
The successful candidate, who will be supervised by Professor Timothy Vyse and Dr David Morris, will be based at the Hammersmith campus, Hammersmith Hospital.
Summary of Duties:
The successful applicant will have experience in statistics, epidemiology, mathematics, or a related discipline, have experience of statistical analysis software, and have good communication skills.
As a key member of the lab, you will:
Be responsible for quality control of data coming into the lab.
Use your statistical expertise in the analysis of genetic data.
Research different statistical methodologies to enhance future analysis strategies.
Applicants should be educated to degree level MSc/PhD in Statistics or equivalent.
