Then, we had my designer friend Deb here, and she said she loved how the wall looked but she thought it would look even better if it had a wallpaper pattern on it. So she showed me a bunch of samples and this is the one we decided we loved!

You may have noticed a handful of photos above that I tried two different faux marble wallpaper samples for this project, but I ultimately decided on this particular pattern from Fancy Walls. I liked the warm-toned veins running through the other sample, but the cool colors in this marble-look pattern really seemed to sing beside our dark green walls. One thing I noticed, though, when the samples were up on the fireplace was that the marble pattern felt a little lost beside the cream-painted moulding on the fireplace. So, after placing my order for the wallpaper and while I waited for that to arrive, I took an afternoon to paint the entire outer edges of the fireplace surround and mantle the same dark green color as the wall. I love how this color-drenched effect modernizes our ultra-traditional fireplace, and I imagined that it would also act as a nice frame for our new marble wallpaper after I put it up.

Well except for the missing boards on the mantel. I took them down as I was deciding whether I wanted to keep the white barn wood slats up or flip them over to reveal the wood side, or perhaps take them down completely and repaint the wall. These are all different looks that I have tried before in the past.

All I did was order THIS PEEL AND STICK WALLPAPER from Target. It cost around thirty dollars and covers 28 feet. I ended up using the entire roll to cover up our tile. This peel and stick wallpaper comes in other brick color options, or you can choose from so many other fun designs as well.

This was my first experience ever using a peel and stick wallpaper but I found it to be fairly simple to apply. As far as tools needed, I only used my scissors, a credit card type card, and a razor blade. I have watched videos of other people applying the peel and stick wallpaper before and so I had a pretty good idea already about how to do it. Some helpful tips are to over compensate areas and trim it down later, and also to slowly peel the backing off as you go along. If you want to give peel and stick wallpaper a go and have never done it before, then I might also suggest watching a youtube video or two because youtube videos can be so helpful.

Once I was finished adding the brick wallpaper I kept saying that I felt like our fireplace looked So Christmasy! Ha! Something about a brick fireplace Just reads Christmas to me I guess. That is why I was excited to immediately decorate the fireplace for Christmas.

But I just have to tell ya, this is actually the first year ever that I have decorated our home for Christmas Before Thanksgiving. We usually have a rule around here to wait until after Thanksgiving, But not this Year. Nope, this Year is just super Lame and needs all the Christmas it can get.

Are you wondering how to optimise the beauty of your beloved fireplace? Perhaps you've seen some striking wallpaper designs, but you're unsure how to use them to highlight your fireplace's natural charms.

A fireplace is a beautiful architectural feature offering warmth, style, and a sense of rustic charm. And whether you choose a maximalist print that's impossible to miss or a subtle texture that adds earthiness and balance, there's a wallpaper for your chimney breast to highlight your fireplace.

Our top tip for fireplace wallpaper is to choose a brand with a wipeable surface, making it easy to remove soot. However, if you spot soot on your wallpaper, get the chimney checked immediately - it may not be drawing correctly.

If you're looking for a robust and striking pattern, consider the complementary tones within the paper. And use those softer tones to balance the room's palette - especially if you're papering just the facing of your fireplace.

Now, it's all big floral prints, challenging geometrics, gaudy colour contrasts, and funky abstracts. And wallpaper is the perfect medium to incorporate these bold statements into your living spaces.

I like the concept, but the animation for the flames is rather fast, which makes it fairly unrelaxing to have on the screen. The point of having a fireplace screensaver instead of, say, a waterfall or moving geometric shapes, is so that it can double-duty as a relaxing image to watch. As this one moves fast enough to induce mild anxiety, I'd say it meets only half of its goals. There's no option for 2.5 stars, so I'll round up to 3.

buy a scorer at home depot and score the whole wall. mix a soapy mixture of soap, fabric softener, and hot water thickest put on the whole wall. use a steamer or even an iron on steam ( you will have to keep the reservoir filled with water.) let the moisture set on the wall for a bit

Using a putty knife or scraper to carefully remove the wallpaper once the adhesive has been loosened with a wallpaper steamer is one technique. Another method is to use a vinegar and hot water mixture or wallpaper removal solution to loosen the wallpaper's adhesive, and then use a scrub brush or sponge to remove it.

The final step was to calk around the counter and cabinet edges. I feel like my fireplace is so much more my style and doing it all myself saved us lots of money! I hope you enjoyed my rock fireplace makeover!

I always get excited when a great idea comes to life! I wanted a simple solution to change the look of the front of our updated fireplace for our family room. This screen has become the focal point of the room. While it was not the main reason, we do find that the best part about this fireplace cover is it acts as a draft stopper and reduces the amount of cold air that seems to sneak in through the open fireplace, resulting in reduced heating bills. Our winter months here in Massachusetts get pretty cold!

After I took this roll of peel-and-stick wallpaper from Amazon and covered the foam board. The Peel and Stick paper was so easy to use. You simply peel the waxy paper from the back and stick it in place. No messy wallpaper glue is necessary!

Then I used the X- Acto knife to cut closer to the foam board. The paper adhered beautifully to the board and the X- Acto cut the edges perfectly! This paper was the ideal solution and the end result is beautiful.

From there I simply placed the new fireplace screen in the fireplace opening and had fun styling the space! I simply layered a few mirrors and empty picture frames with some added blooms on our new mantel. I love how it looks and how this simple addition just brightens up this whole space. Click here for more ideas for using empty picture frames in decor. For the front of the fireplace, I added a large vase of beautiful branches from our yard. I also hung a fun paper chandelier!

Love this idea and made my own fireplace cover using the same wallpaper! Thank you! Would you please share what type of flower you have in the vase on the mantle? If it is artificial is there a place to purchase? Thanks again!

These are the best indoor fireplace design ideas for the colder months. The chilly weather means more time indoors so you may as well do it in style. There are many different types of fireplaces. Your fireplace may be dictated by the age of the property, the size of the space or what's easiest and the most efficient. All designs can be a key feature of any room and making the most of them takes a little magic. Here's the top fireplace design ideas.

This era overlapped with the Arts and Crafts decorative and fine arts movement. This saw added tiles on either side of the main hearth. The style then developed into a tile fireplace surround and/or a wooden mantle.

The simplest trick is to store logs of wood in the fireplace. This adds a rustic warm feel without the need for a fire. This works just as well with books if you're looking for more storage without adding shelves. Of course, make sure you've cleaned out the area first.

The most obvious issue that had to be dealt with was accessing the two storey wall. If the fireplace wall was being painted we could just put up an extension to brush the top edge in and then roll everything else using a roller on an extension pole.

Extension ladders are problematic with wallpaper installations because it has to be set up to one side in order to avoid the path of the strip of wallpaper. This means that the installer has to lean far to one side in order to install a strip of wallpaper, an awkward position to say the least. However, if the painter or installer was to look into a website such as platformsandladders.com for other solutions to reach inaccessible places, they might find various mobile platforms that could be set up in such a way that could make the installation of the wallpaper, to be a much safer and easier process.

Once we had the access issue taken care of, the installation was fairly straightforward. Each strip was hung by two installers, the first on the top platform and the 2nd on the middle platform. Once the top portion was put in place the top platform installer would descend the floor to complete installation of the strip.
