Hello.

I have been developing an NBI creation tool before Imagr was announced with the idea to create a cocoa app that is AutoDMG but for NBIs. And it has been coming along great, and when Imagr was announced I decided to include that as a default "workflow" to create an NBI for.

I read here about the support for extra binaries, and would also like to know if there are any special ones that many admins would like included in the NBI.

I have successfully enabled ScreenSharing/ARD in the NBI and have all functions for allowing any custom package to be installed on in the NBI. My plan is now to create a good UI for allowing what this question is asking. To basically create a checklist to check any binaries / Frameworks to be included in the NBI that exists in the OS Installer. This is ofcourse a little tricky so I should not say "any", but my idea is to allow people to customize their NBI easily from a easy GUI. I will se what i can come up with and if it will work or not, but until them I'm also interested in knowing what other frameworks or binaries that people want access to in their NBIs.

Here is a screenshot of controlling a NetInstall NBI from the ScreenSharing application

Hi Erik,

Pepjin Bruiennes AutoNBI (https://bitbucket.org/bruienne/autonbi) seems to be the NetInstall creation tool most used.

I believe that for Imagr support, Python libraries had to be added.

There is also my AutoImagrNBI (https://macmule.com/projects/AutoImagrNBI) which is a forked version of AutoCasperNBI & is an AppleScript Objective-C app to be used for creating NetBoot Images via AutoDMG OS.dmg's. Perhaps they are worth a look too as there are some options there I added on request.

Regards,

Ben.

Thank youBen, I will look more closely at your options and see what might be useful.

I am still experimenting with what settings could be considered general (lite ntp and screensharing) and the more advanced options to create a more straight forward UI as my goal is to keep the app simple to use and not intimidating for new admins.

It's great to see people exited about NetBoot and Imagr specifically, I think it will become something great. It just takes a little shared efforts on both the Application and the NetBoot Image creation tool to create a good workflow.
