So i've been using ImageGlass for a few days now as a part of my job. Window's 10 photo viewer basically slowed my entire computer to a crawl due to how poorly it runs and ImageGlass works like a dream. I set it as my default photo viewer for all photo file types and it's been great. I click a file on our company's website, it downloads to chrome at the bottom, i click it and it opens. It was working just like this today, but for some reason, just randomly on a completely random file, it pulled up the "How do you want to open this file" screen. It shouldn't do this since it's set as default, but when i click ImageGlass and "Ok", the screen disappears and then reappears 2 seconds later, asking again which program i want to use. No matter how many times i select ImageGlass, it refuses to open. I made sure it wasn't an issue with the program, i exited out and opened the program independently and it does open, and i can open the files manually there through the file directory, but i have no clue as to why it suddenly won't open as default.

I thought there might be another instance running so i pulled up task manager but couldn't find any other version running, so I decided to uninstall and reinstall, so i opened the control panel and went to uninstall a program, and i can't even find ImageGlass on my computer. Sorting programs by install date, its not there, alphabetical, its not there. So i have absolutely 0 clue as to whats going on. If anyone else has advice or has had this happen, please let me know. Thanks.

ImageGlass doesn't have any "self-destruct" capability. If IG isn't in your "installed programs" list, then either a) it wasn't installed [i.e. portable version] or b) someone or something  attempted to uninstall it. The latter could include a Windows 10 upgrade ...

Unfortunately, IG is not a "signed" app, which means it tends to set off alarm bells with WIndows security stuff. If you have anti-virus or other apps running, they may have tried to disable it. You say you're using it at work, do you have an IT department? If so, they may have also tried to uninstall it; you'll have to ask them.

IG is on your computer, if you say you can run it. So try setting a different app as the default, i.e  Photos, open a few images, then set the default back to ImageGlass. [Maybe even logout and/or reboot in-between]. It might be necessary to physically hunt down where ImageGlass.exe is located, and browse for that file when setting the default [as the system no longer appears to "know" about Imageglass].
