Hello,

I was using imageglass back since about 4.0, in the last 2-3 months it just doesn't open anymore. I tried a portable version of the app, I tried uninstalling and re-installing it, I tried version 4, 5 and 6, I tried latest moon release (April 14) and stable release

ImageGlass 6.0.12.29 but nothing works.

If I open it nothing happens, the icon doesn't even briefly pop up. I only use Windows defender for security software and I disabled real-time protection, still won't open. This is my favourite viewer and I really want to use it again :( The only thing I haven't tried is formatting and re-setting Windows but I'm not willing to do that for one photo program.

Is there any registry settings that may be left behind that's causing this? Is there any guide I can follow to remove any trace of the program and re-install it again to maybe help fix this? I'm running Windows 10 1809 and while I can't remember exactly it may have stopped working with the 1809 update.

Would love any suggestions. Thanks.

If you're not getting a "ImageGlass has stopped working" response from Windows, then that's weird. If you run Task Manager, is there an ImageGlass process running (apparently invisibly)?

Did you run System File Checker to repair any borked system files? (see this )

We might have to create a diagnostic version of IG to help figure this out. Also, let me work on creating a Win10.1809 setup, I've not tested IG on 1809 yet.

I've checked Windows 10 1809 and had no issues. Everything I've read about this behavior suggests that you have corrupted system files, and the best way to solve it is to run System File Checker and other Microsoft tools to repair your OS.

Hey mate,

It does show up in task manager but it disappears after half a second or so, no error messages or anything like that. I've got a video showing exactly what's happening - Windows 10 1809 all latest updates applied

https://streamable.com/pbosv - The exact same thing happens with moon branch, portable one and the installed one. I did run an SFC /Scannow it did find some errors and it says it fixed them but it did not make any difference, my computer is otherwise all perfect but I guess it may be an issue with my Windows configuration. The Windows 10 May update should be out next month, I'm going to format/clean install Windows with that update and see if allows me to install it as a last ditch attempt.

In the meantime if you have any diagnostic version or any particular version or testing you want me to try, I'm happy to help out. I'm a computer technician by trade so I'm very comfortable with more technical stuff if it helps you.

Hi!

Can you try deleting all files in this folder: %appdata%\ImageGlass
Let me know if it works!

Thanks for the update! If IG actually is appearing in task manager, that's a different kettle of fish. The IG .exe is probably starting but falling over quickly - a DLL problem or something.

Try Phap's suggestion (to wipe old IG configuration) and I'll see what I can come up with for diagnostics.

So this morning I uninstalled all old/unused programs, ran a registry cleaner, cleaned up all unused temp files, etc. Then I did a Windows 10 in place repair/ upgrade - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html Like that. Which re-installs all core Windows files, it's basically one step off of doing a full clean format of Windows

Unfortunately Imageglass still won't launch for me but I did notice in task manager Windows Error log was coming up then quickly disappearing as well and so I opened problem reporting and it does have logs.

YES THIS WORKED!!! THANK YOU

Yay! It's now opening perfectly, set it back as my default viewer, restarted computer, it still all works perfectly. This has fixed it!

Just confirming deleting the contents of %appdata%\ImageGlass fixed my issue!

If possible, I would suggest you set up the uninstaller to automatically clear this folder when uninstalling, might save some headaches for people who have the same issue in future.

Thanks for an awesome program. I've sent through 5 bucks on your paypal link as a thank you for your program and the continued support.

I had a similar problem.
ImageGlass stopped working, and would just throw up an error message and quit.
Uninstalling/Re-installing, cleaning registry had no effect.
But removing ImageGlass AppData fixed the problem.
Thanks.

Hi,
I had the same issue after I had connected a monitor to my laptop, moved the imageglass software there, then disconnected the monitor and then imageglass won't be visible on my screen.

Usually I can 1) activate the task, ALT+SPACE, cursor down to "Move" and then I can move the  window back to my main screen but that does not work for imageglass or 2) move it to another desktop using win+alt+cursor left but unfortunately both methods dont work with imageglass.

Having a look at the old \AppData\Local\ImageGlass\igconfig.json the PositionX seems to be quite high, maybe the next one with this issue can confirm whether there were disconnected monitors in play - and try setting the X to 200, apparently the default for a new installation:
 "FrmMainPositionX": 3479,
  "FrmMainPositionY": 729,

PS: Great software, otherwise, thanks :-)
