Issues with playing AdX using VMAP.

Hi, 

We are using google ima on android to play video ads. To serve ads we are using VMAP. When we use direct sales ads are working properly but while using AdX, video ads do not come. Can some one please shed some clarity on this. 

TAG used : 


When using through vast this works properly. The same works on iOS and web. 

In this tag the pre roll is and AdX while the midroll is Sponsored ad.

Hi Vineet,

Under what circumstances, are you having issues? Please be as detailed as possible and include specific steps to reproduce the issue. If possible, please also share a Charles log and the text of any errors you might be receiving.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the prompt response. I really appreciate that.
Charles log was already attached in the post. Along with the url. I'll re attach it here again. I've made a small apk which has the Google VMAP in option 1 and Our VMAP tag in option two. Please have a look at it.

Issue : when we attach a direct sales tag line item in the VMAP (mid-roll) it plays properly, but when we add a ADX to the line item VMAP (pre-roll) it does not. Here in the apk, pre roll is adx and midroll is sponsored ad. Please check the apk and you'll see no pre rolls coming out.

Hi Vineet,

Thank you for following up. This is an issue with how your VAST response is hosted. When I inspect the ad request, I can see that the error is CORS related. The SDK never receives a VAST response because the HTTP request fails with the following error:

XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://b2bapi.zee5.com/adtags/androidads_test_tags_v1.php?videoid=0-0-2357…Action&pageurl=https://www.zee5.commovies/details/chaalbaaz/0-0-2357/watch. The value of the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header in the response must not be the wildcard '*' when the request's credentials mode is 'include'. Origin 'https://imasdk.googleapis.com' is therefore not allowed access. The credentials mode of requests initiated by the XMLHttpRequest is controlled by the withCredentials attribute.

You'll need to setup the CORS header on your ad server. If you're not hosting the ads yourself, then you'll need to reach out to your serving provider.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your response. As suggested by you we have managed to change CORS origin header to https://imasdk.googleapis.com (Refer in the screenshots attached) But the ads are still not working for the adx line items. We are also attaching a video of the behaviour here with the mail.



Ideally, you should be getting the following ads 

pre rolls (Z5_Midroll_Test) (Direct sales) working

pre roll bumper (Z5_App_Android_Preroll) (Adx),  not working

midroll 1 (at 5sec ) (Z5_App_Android_Midroll_1)  (Adx) not working

and a post roll (Adx).  not working

Please ignore the naming conventions as we trying multiple combinations.

We are able to see only one ad which is a direct sale ad at the preroll bumper.  Other ads do not come

Hi Vineet,

This appears to be serving issue. I tested your tag and these ads aren't working because they're returning empty VAST responses. You'll have to reach out to your ad provider for help modifying your serving settings.
