HTML5 IMA SDK (Web) - Implement Custom Ad Playback

Hi team,

Is there a way to implement custom ad playback? I've read this blog here which states the advantages of using standard rendering, but I wish to use my own video player to read the VAST XML and play the ad media file without relying on a "second" <video> created by the IMA SDK. Is there a way to do this? Or do I have to rely on other third party video apps? Thank you!

Thank you for reaching out to us. Let me do the best I can to answer you inquiry.

With regard to your concern, we have Custom Ad Playback in Android, and in HTML5 there are integrations with other players such as Shaka Player and VideoJS. In iOS Safari, if you don't disableCustomPlaybackForIOS10Plus then the native player plays the ad. There is limited support for UI customization in HTML5 SDK.
