I've created a new master tag for Ooyala and I've gotten a pre-roll to serve on a ooyala video 100% on desktop, but on iOS the targeted pre-roll does not appear.

Master Ad Tag: http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ads?sz=4x4&iu=/8904/r29.video.oao/video&ciu_szs&impl=s&gdfp_req=1&env=vp&output=xml_vast2&unviewed_position_start=1&url=[referrer_url]&correlator=[timestamp]&cmsid=318&vid=[oo_embedcode]

Test Page: http://www.refinery29.com/ooyala-player

Targeted Video: vid=BpeDV0bToBAcbws9jF8Ok4iUZcxZiOmu

When I run it in Charles Debug tool two different ad tags are being returned.

Desktop:
http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ads?ciu_szs&cmsid=318&correlator=1852403386155008&dt=1401480964282&env=vp&flash=13.0.0.214&frm=0&gdfp_req=1&ged=tle%3BTypeError%3BCannot%20read%20property%20%27get%27%20of%20undefined&impl=s&iu=%2F8904%2Fr29.video.oao%2Fvideo&osd=2&output=xml_vast2&scor=2554777871319040&sdkv=3.0.141&sz=4x4&u_ah=1200&u_asa=1&u_aw=1920&u_cd=24&u_h=1200&u_his=2&u_java=true&u_nmime=29&u_nplug=21&u_tz=-240&u_w=1920&unviewed_position_start=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.refinery29.com%2Fooyala-player&vid=BpeDV0bToBAcbws9jF8Ok4iUZcxZiOmu

iOS:
http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ads?sz=4x4&iu=%2F8904%2Fr29.video.oao%2Fvideo&ciu_szs&gdfp_req=1&env=vp&output=xml_vast2&unviewed_position_start=1&cmsid=318&vid=%5Boo_embedcode%5D&correlator=4041134071349248&sdkv=h.3.1.53&scor=3241049800572928&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.refinery29.com%2Fooyala-player

Any reason why this would be? I shouldn't have to do anything different for the pre-roll to work on my iPhone...I am using MP4 for sure...what else could be wrong?

Hi Lauren,

Apologies for the delayed response, it appears your original message was tagged as spam for some reason. I am seeing a pre-roll on both iOS (iPad) and desktop (Chrome/Firefox) now -- did you make a change to the code or serving side to resolve the issue? Was the issue that you weren't seeing a pre-roll at all on iOS or that it wasn't serving the correct creative?

Thanks,
Bret McGowen

Hello Bret,

We are transitioning from Brightcove to Ooyala.

Mobile pre-roll works from Brightcove.

But if you go to http://www.refinery29.com/ooyala-player on desktop you will see I am testing an ad.

That same ad is targeted to mobile at 100% but it is not appearing on mobile.

I made sure it’s mp4…but it still does not show.

ROS ads are serving instead of the targeted one that you see on desktop.

For some reason the vid= portion of the ad tag isn’t being pulled in on Mobile.

I have setup a master ad tag to pull in pre-roll ads from DFP.

Master Ad Tag: http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ads?sz=4x4&iu=/8904/r29.video.oao/video&ciu_szs=&gdfp_req=1&env=vp&output=xml_vast2&unviewed_position_start=1&url=[referrer_url]&correlator=[timestamp]&cmsid=318&vid=[oo_embedcode]

With this tag we are able to target specific pre-roll to an ad.

We add in the video content ID which populates under embedcode.

On desktop the vid=contentID is returned but on mobile vid=contentID isn’t being passed through.

Desktop Ad Call:

http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ads?ciu_szs&cmsid=318&correlator=417185417658368&dt=1401467307153&env=vp&flash=13.0.0.214&frm=0&gdfp_req=1&ged=tle%3BTypeError%3Bthis.G.m%20is%20undefined&impl=s&iu=%2F8904%2Fr29.video.oao%2Fvideo&osd=2&output=xml_vast2&scor=1520912828465152&sdkv=3.0.141&sz=4x4&u_ah=1200&u_asa=1&u_aw=1920&u_cd=24&u_h=1200&u_his=2&u_java=true&u_nmime=106&u_nplug=24&u_tz=-240&u_w=1920&unviewed_position_start=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.refinery29.com%2Fooyala-player&vid=BpeDV0bToBAcbws9jF8Ok4iUZcxZiOmu

Mobile iOS Ad Call:

http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ads?sz=4x4&iu=%2F8904%2Fr29.video.oao%2Fvideo&ciu_szs&gdfp_req=1&env=vp&output=xml_vast2&unviewed_position_start=1&cmsid=318&vid=%5Boo_embedcode%5D&correlator=176675074605056&sdkv=h.3.1.53&scor=3576849669029888&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.refinery29.com%2Fooyala-player

My guess is the html5 version has '[oo_embedcode]' hardcoded somewhere. Flash client is passing the vid ID on the page to the plugin, though.

Hi Lauren,

Just following back up with this issue -- did you update your player test page? Now I am seeing vid=BpeDV0bToBAcbws9jF8Ok4iUZcxZiOmu in both Flash (Desktop) and HTML5 (iPad) on your Ooyala test page. Let me know if there is still an issue and/or what the fix ended up being.

Cheers,
