Big drop of viewable_impression event from IMA SDK HTML5 since the 30/07 at 20:00 GMT + 2

Hi IMA Team

I'm writing to you because i'm a bit blocked since the release 3.321.2 the 30 July.


We are monitoring the `VIEWABLE_IMPRESSION` event directly from google player, with the addEventListener method
, and since this time, it totaly drop down without any reason, and never recover. Now it's between 50/55%, before it was around 70%.

We know that this event is responsible of viewability measurement in DBM and ADX.

Can you help us understand why this big drop occurs. What changes did you make which could impact viewable impression, and make it drop like this.

Hi Yohan,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We are not aware of such issue, on July 30th, 2019 there was no changes on the IMA SDK for HTML5 that would cause your viewable_impression to drop. Viewable_impression drops are usually caused by changes in the publisher's website layout or overlays on top of the IMA player blocking the AdDisplayContainer. However, viewable_impression report issues are out of scope for the IMA SDK Support Team, we would recommend you to reach out to the Ad Manager Support team so they can assist you.

Thanks for your answer.

Here i'm talking about the viewable_impression event (google.ima.AdEventType.VIEWABLE_IMPRESSION), not the report from ADX.
Is there anyway to compare the ima3.js code from previous version to current version to understand what could cause this.

As the issue is global (not on one publisher), and the drop start at a specific time, where nothing was released, i suspect a change on IMA3.

Can you help us with that ? How the VIEWABLE_IMPRESSION is triggered ?

Hi Yohan,

The google.ima.AdEventType.VIEWABLE_IMPRESSION event that you mentioned does not exist in the IMA SDK for HTML5 AdEventType documentation. If you are trying to catch the SDK event related to the viewable impression report you should register the google.ima.AdEventType.IMPRESSION, it is fired when the impression URL has been pinged. If you previously registered your AdEvent to the VIEWABLE_IMPRESSION event (which doesn't exist), it won't be triggered, try registering it to the IMPRESSION event instead.
