Hi Team,

I am currently using the Android IMA SDK for a Fire TV app. I followed the getting started guide here: https://developers.google.com/interactive-media-ads/docs/sdks/android/quickstart.

The base app (SampleVideoPlayer) without any ad implementation works fine on the Fire TV, however when I try the updated app (BasicExample) app with ad implementation it does not work on Fire TV. It just gives me a blank black screen.

It does work on the Android TV Emulator in Android Studio. Is the IMA SDK fully supported on Fire TV or is some sort of work around required? Any help on integrating the IMA SDK with Fire TV would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Jack,

Thanks for getting in touch to clarify on your use case.  Currently, the IMA SDK for Android does not support any TV-based implementations, so we would not be able to recommend on any native workaround.

You might want to try the HTML5 SDK instead, and utilize a functionality called custom playback to provide a cross-platform experience to native TV app users.  In essence, your app would be opening a website containing an IMA implementation, so here you would want to adapt the page's UI and UX to match that of your app.

Hi Vu Chau,

Is there any update in IMA SDK to support in Android-TV or any other TV Platforms?

Thanks,
Mahesh.
