Hello,

I would like to know if the sdk IMA HTML5 is GDPR compliant ?

I see the creation of a cookie named : GED_PLAYLIST_ACTIVITY.
Is this cookie allowed by GDPR ?

I saw in the doc, that adding &npa=1 in doubleclic tags makes the pub GDPR compliant. So I imagine that the IMA sdk that calls this tag is GDPR compliant.

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to support. I'd like to direct you to our guide that covers requesting consent from European users. You'll need to handle the consent request and then pass the npa=1 ad tag parameter to the SDK to specify that only non-personalized ad content should be returned.

Regards,
Chris Feldman

Hi,

The npa=1 ad tag parameter is specific to DFP. If you're using another serving provider, you'll need to reach out to their team for more information.

Ok Thank you and what's about the cookie GED_PLAYLIST_ACTIVITY ?

It's writed by the file : https://s0.2mdn.net/instream/video/client.js which is loaded by ima3.js

Is this cookie allowed by GDPR ? Is it possible to not create this cookie ?

If I have to have the consent of the user to use IMA, I don't need to add "&npa=1" because the user agree to have cookie.

Thank you

Davy

Hey Davy,

I got some more information for you - this cookie is used to measure session activity for ad formats. It is required by IMA. Because IMA uses cookies, our policies require you to get cookie consent from your EEA users if you use IMA. You also need to get EEA user consent to ads personalization if you use IMA to request personalized ads. You don't need to get user consent to ads personalization if you append the NPA signal to your ad request, but you do still need to get cookie consent to use IMA.

Thanks,
Shawn Busolits
