Hi IMA Team,

I am trying to work around some issues with VPAID handling in the HTML5 IMA SDK and I would need your help.
I have reviewed the information at https://developers.google.com/interactive-media-ads/docs/sdks/html5/v3/apis#ima.ImaSdkSettings.VpaidMode. In our player we currently use INSECURE because I understand the VPAID 2 specification recommends using friendly iframe (FiF) to render VPAID creatives.
Now it seems this is causing some issues to render some type of VPAID creatives. I have an example with this tag:

If I use INSECURE it plays but without video (I only have sound). If I use ENABLED then it seems to work fine.
It seems that your inspector at https://developers.google.com/interactive-media-ads/docs/sdks/html5/vastinspector?player=h5 also uses ENABLED as default.
So my question is what is the recommended default for google.ima.ImaSdkSettings.VpaidMode if we want VPAID ads to be enabled and to have maximum coverage without having to change this setting. Is it INSECURE or ENABLED?

Thanks
Arnaud

Hi Arnaud,

It's my understanding that a VPAID ad that works in ENABLED mode should also work in INSECURE mode. I tested your ad and I'm able to replicate the issue that you're seeing. I'm going to bring this up to the rest of our team so we can investigate possible solutions. I will follow-up with you as soon as I have any more information.

Hi Chris,

Do you have an update on this issue? I have another report here with similar symptoms on VPAID ads.

Thanks
Arnaud

Hi Arnaud,

We do not yet have an update for this issue. Our team is still investigation solutions. Can you share the other ads that are exhibiting this behavior?

Hi Chris,

I have requested our client to enable a publicly available adTag that reproduces this issue. I will update once I have something to share.

Thanks
Arnaud
