SDK-owned ad playback

Hi, 

I am currently using v3.16.5 IMA SDK for Android and wanted to know starting v3.17.0, how can I use IMA SDK owned ad playback without creating a new VideoAdPlayer for createAdDisplayContainer(ViewGroup container, VideoAdPlayer player). 

Context: 

Our codebase was using v3.16.5 since very long which started crashing when we targeted Android 14 devices. The code never used/created a VideoAdPlayer and relied on SDK owned ad playback. 

I see that starting v3.17.0, I will have to add a VideoAdPlayer, thereby resorting to a custom Ad playback according to the IMA SDK guide. 

Is there no way to avoid using VideoAdPlayer and just rely on SDK-owned ad playback? 

I basically want to avoid switching the source url of the Exoplayer. 

Can you please advice me on this?

Thanks for contacting IMA SDK support team.

The SDK you are using was deprecated on February 7, 2021. Check all Deprecation schedule.
Questions on the developer forum will not be answered by the support team for deprecated version.

I would  recommend to update your SDK to latest as soon as possible.
Follow this for custom playback, if you wanted to go with default SDK-owned ad playback", is the default option in Get Started.

Kindly get back to us if you face any other issue in IMA SDK integration.
