Hello,

We are a DSP trying to integrate with AdX for video.

I am trying to use the VAST video inspector here - https://developers.google.com/interactive-media-ads/docs/vastinspector_dual - to ensure that the ad is rendering correctly and we are able to track impressions and clicks.

Here is the VAST tag that I am trying to test -

http://rtb.infinity.blismedia.com/video.php?campaign_id=2865&rtb_id=29&bid_request_id=083154223023000011084102010194150099156000053184&buyer_id=CAESED8RIQiF0fpKtSU-KgI4ZgA&generation_time=1402658583870365&site_name=www.youtube.com&banner_id=8601&dpid_sha1=CAESED8RIQiF0fpKtSU-KgI4ZgA&imp_id=1&win_host=54.195.50.84:8081&win_price=U57EnwAE_DIK22CkAABBR0Zefl68pAt-4SvQbg&ad_content=http%3A%2F%2Fad.doubleclick.net%2Fpfadx%2FN378.109948.7956728524321%2FB7877412.369%3Bdcadv%3D3254261%3Bsz%3D0x0%3Bord%3D1402658583870365%3Bdcmt%3Dtext%2Fxml&ad_server_type=2

This is essentially a VAST wrapper on top of DoubleClick video ad tag that embeds our tracking URLs.

This works fine with the Flash player. The ad renders correctly and we are able to track impressions and clicks.

But when I switch to the HTML5 player with the same tag - I get this error -

(12:40:26) Ad Error: Unable to request ads from server due to network error.

What could be the reason?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Raj

Hi Raj,

It looks like the problem is in a CORS header setting on your ad server. You can read about how CORS affects the SDK here. In your case, the ad server is using the " * " wildcard in the "Access-Control-Allow-Origin" header and also setting the credentials flag to "true". When credentials are allowed, you're *not* allowed to use a wildcard in the Allow-Origin header. If you have any other questions let me know!

Thanks Shawn,

After fixing the CORS header, the HTML5 player is able to render the ad.

However it appears that the tracking URLs for impression and click tracking as specified in the VAST wrapper are not being invoked when the ad is played in the HTML5 player. I can see these tracking URLs invoked on a Flash player.

Here is the VAST wrapper URL that I am testing -

Could you please check?

- Raj

Hey Raj,

I do see the same issue you're reporting, so I've let the rest of the team know and we're looking into it. I'll let you know as soon as we find out what's causing the issue.
