InteractiveCreativeFile ignored when inside a wrapper.

ImaSdk seems to ignore Simid InteractiveCreativeFile nodes when they are in a vast wrapper.

The Vast 4.3 Spec states under 2.3.5.2 Wrapper Conflict Management and Precedence:
"However, if multiple creative can be served without
conflict, the media player should attempt to display whatever creative it can."

So if the Wrapper contains a InteractiveCreativeFile and the final Inline ad contains an mp4 Video MediaFile, both should be shown together. But currently ImaSdk is ignoring the InteractiveCreativeFile from the wrapper.

The Business use-case is that we want to show Interactive elements in together with the clients vast ad using SIMID.

Hello Ima-Sdk team,

I missed to mention that this issue exists for me on the IMA SDK for HTML5. (I have not tried the App version)
I decided instead of a screen recording to just create the vast tags and showcase the behavior with your IMA HTML5 Video Suite Inspector instead.

To give you an example which showcases this issue, I have created 3 vast tags:

1. one with the mp4 creative AND the SIMID creative: https://assets.redpineapplemedia.com/vast/simid-wrapper/simid-vast.xml
   
   • Just to showcase how it should look, this works fine
2. one which contains only the mp4 creative: https://assets.redpineapplemedia.com/vast/simid-wrapper/linear-mp4-vast.xml
   
3. and a wrapper which contains the SIMID creative ad and wraps the mp4 creative vast tag: https://assets.redpineapplemedia.com/vast/simid-wrapper/simid-wrapper.xml

Thank you for sharing the VAST tags, I was able to see the lack of support for SIMID within the <Creative> node not being run in favor of the <VASTAdTagURI> node.

I think this is currently expected behavior for SIMID ads on IMA. As a work around, for your use-case, would it be possible to format the VAST as it is in the functional SIMID ad you shared?

For the business use-case, could you be more descriptive about what sort of 'Interactive elements' you want to add to the ads?

Hello Jackson,

If this is the expected behavior for SIMID ads in IMA, I believe it is going against the Vast 2.3 spec (as quoted in my first message).

That workaround will not work for us because we usually receive vast tags from our clients which we would like to enhance with interactive elements, we do not create these vast tags by ourself.
We have no way to change these vast tags and often the adservers of the clients do not allow them to add InteractiveCreativeFile nodes to their vast tags.
It would also make things much more difficult for us, if we need to always contact the client if there is a change in the InteractiveCreativeFile or its parameters which we develop for them.

any updates on this issue. Even I am observing the same issue. As per IAB specification, InteractiveCreativeFile provided with wrapper should be considered.

May I know, when can we expect this fix?

After more discussions with the IMA team, we have decided not to implement this change at this time. The team's reading of SIMID does not view this as currently a requirement of the specification. If this was the case, it should be more explicitly required in the spec if the SIMID working group desires it. If an updated SIMID spec includes this, then the IMA team may ultimately implement it.

@Shriprasad I opened a github issue at the IAB Vast spec and asked them to clarify this, because its really not very well specified there. But so far there is no response: https://github.com/InteractiveAdvertisingBureau/vast/issues/45
I hope they will takkle this in the future, because I think this is a very useful feature.
