[HTML5] Video Suite Inspector error when VAST XML contains wrapped VPAID tag.

Hi there, 

To start, I am not a developer so please forgive my basic knowledge. 

We use the HTML5 SDK and I often use the Video Suite Inspector in troubleshooting and creative issues. 

 

I've reach a wall regarding an issue I'm facing with serving programmatically traded VPAID creatives. 

So far we've not had any issues when directly host similar VPAID creatives through Google Ad Manager. 

These VPAID creatives are often wrapped by a viewability vendor such as IAS or MOAT and I do have a currently live VAST XML tag which I can share directly with support if needed. 

When using this XML tag in the Suite Inspector with VPAID mode enabled, it encounters a 901 error with an inner 402 time out error.

Changing VPAID mode to Insecure will allow the creative to serve perfectly. Unfortunately, as a publisher it seems we will not change our IMA settings to Insecure due to security concerns.

I traced back the first instance of these VPAID creatives failing back to April 9th 2020, where the IMA release stated:

• Updated the handling of VPAID ads to no longer spawn new video elements. Previously, IMA would create a new video element for VPAID ads when the element provided by the publisher did not function as expected.

Again, my knowledge around what this exactly means is limited. 

Has anyone come across issues, particularly around VPAID ads after the 9th of April 2020? Would there be any workarounds/methods that I could suggest to our developers to resolve this?

Hi Denzel,

I work with Sherwin and will assist you. Thank you for giving your ad tags in private. When checking them in the inspector the Genesis and Pandora tags only played in insecure mode. When in secure mode the tags returned the errors you mentioned :
