Brightcove/IMA3 Non-Linear Ads

We are trying to resolve an issue whereby the player controls are not visible when a non-linear ad is loaded into Brightcove player via the IMA SDK. Expected behaviour is that the controls appear on mouse-over of the video, but this is not happening. I think this may be down to the player treating this overlay as a preroll ad? I don't know if there is a property we can specify in the embed code that will inform the IMA this is a non-linear ad?

We are working together with Brightcove, who say this behaviour is on the Google IMA SDK side - I have created a test player, which will demonstrate this issue: http://boarding-tag-tests.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/brightcove-both-10989.html

By playing the top player, you will see when the overlay appears around 5 seconds, the controls are no longer available.

Oli,

I viewed your test page on Chrome on Mac OSX and can see controls on both players when the overlay ad appears at 5 seconds.  Mousing out of and back over both players allows the controls to hide and reappear.

Since these are Brightcove players, there isn't likely anything the Google IMA SDK team can do if there were an issue.  If you were able to reproduce the issue outside of a Brightcove player, then perhaps this SDK team could help you.

Are you experiencing the issue on a particular OS, platform or device or can you provide a new link that does reproduce the issue? If so, I can work with our support team at Brightcove to help track down the issue.

Hi Michael, thank you for your speedy response! The mousing out and back into the player may work the first time, but on subsequent attempts you will see that the controls won't reappear as they should.

I cannot recreate this issue in the Video Suite inspector and hence I suppose it is an issue specifically with the Brightcove IMA3 plugin - I totally understand if this is something Brightcove need to look at as oppose to yourselves. One final thing- do you know of a way that I can specify the ad is non-linear from the JSON IMA3 options? I have had a good look through the documentation and can't find anything related...Thanks!

Well, I work for Brightcove, which is why I replied :)    I just like to hang out here and keep up with the IMA SDK goings on.
