I've looked around, but is it not possible to add padding to the skip button location while maintaining fill video size?  See attached.

Thanks

Hi David,

This is currently not possible as we do not support modifying/adding your own UI elements.  Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

I too have a similar issue - the skin for our Brighcove/VideoJs player is being impacted by the button not being adjustable (forced to redesign the skin just to allow the skip button not to be overlapped).

I however have been almost able to create a workaround by creating an external skip button.

To help finalize the workaround - is it possible to:
  1. Hide the skip button
  2. Get the linear skipoffset time that has been added to the VAST tag
Cheers

Hi Hamish,

Currently at the moment, the skip button cannot be hidden.  In addition, you cannot get the linear skipoffset time through an API method.   We do have an API method for getting the offset but it is for the entire ad pod.

Thanks for the info

Where is the best place to suggest future enhancements?

Ideally I'm wanting to keep a consistent player UI between the ad player and the VideoJS player

If we are unable to modify default UI elements in the ad player (e.g. skip the button) being able to hide them and create our own would help with such clashes

I have created most of the functionality needed but the two mentioned points are really blockers in making this possible (actually - I could get away with just being able to hide the default skip countdown and button and showing a custom skip button when it has become skippable. Being able to show the countdown to skip would be ideal to the end user)

My workaround for now is a slightly shorter control bar for the ad player :)

Cheers

Hi Hamish,

This forum is the best place to suggest future enhancements.  We will bring these items back to the team to see which are feasible.

It is discouraged to place custom UI items on top of the video player as they could interfere with clicks and impression tracking.  But if you are mainly looking to add a countdown timer, you should read our following documentation which explains how to set this up.

Yeah, I've played with that but I'm wanting countdown till be able to skip rather than countdown from remaining time on ad (or have I missed something there )  :)

Totally understand about custom UI items, in which case I would champion on the lines to have the ability to add settings to position the skip bottom/top of the player e.g.

skipUI: {
  verticalPosition
: [bottom|top], // Allow to
  verticalDistance
: [10%|10px]
}

Or at a minimum allow to decide the distance from the bottom

Thanks for your time

Cheers

Has there been any movement on this request?  We're doing an integration with the SDK and would like to move the skip ad button so it doesn't overlap with our video controls.  Being able to set the bottom offset would be sufficient.

Thank you,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Modifying the UI including the skip button location is currently not supported.  In the future, please feel free to open a new thread for better tracking purposes.

Thanks,

You can hide the control bar (edit display state during ad impression, or even decrease the z-index value) to get a fast & easy fix ;)

Hi Sunil,

We do not have an update at this time. The SDK does not support modifying the skip button in any way.

Hi Mimo -Design,

Thank you for bringing this question to our attention. As previously mentioned there is no known development on allowing the skip button to be moved or change its position. For various reasons this is something that will most-likely not be done. As this could cause multiple policy violations for people if allowed to be changed, as well as for User Experience.
