IAB Video Definition Changes

Hi there,

As we are informed that the IAB Tech Lab has finalized changes to video definitions, according to the blog, one of these changes is to add a new field called "plcmt." So, does the IMA SDK support the new "plcmt" field? And in which version will the IMA SDK support the "plcmt" field?

This is Jackson from the IMA SDK team. Thank you for raising this issue.

There are not any current plans for IMA SDK to support the "plcmt" field. Looking into this farther, the "plcmt" field is designed to replace the "placement" field. I am unsure if IMA currently supports the "placement" field. Could you point to any IMA documentation that references this? This will help me better direct your request for support.

I learned that the "placement" field is defined in the OpenRTB protocol, and the replacement of "plcmt" is an update of OpenRTB, so does the IMA SDK implement OpenRTB or use OpenRTB for real-time bidding transactions? And if so, do we need to use the right version of the IMA SDK to support the "plcmt" field?

Hello Rex,

Thank you for the information. The IMA SDK only sends the ad request. On Google Ad Manager servers or whichever ad server is being used, the ad request is translated to open RTB calls. The IMA SDK does not have the ability to migrating this field. No version change of the IMA SDK will be needed to utilize these fields.
