Hide "Learn More" button

Hi,

I was very excited to read about AdsRenderingSettings.setUiElements in the Android SDK release notes but scanning through the reference I found that it's not possible to hide the "Learn More" button that sends users to the landing page, right? Specifically for our quite awesome Nexus Player app we need a way to hide that button since it doesn't do anything respectively cannot be focused with the remote. Do you have plans to also make that button customizable?

Hi Ralf,

Although the Android SDK beta 12 does allow users to customize some UI elements (countdown and ad attribution), the ability to hide the "Learn More" button is currently not support. I cannot speak about future releases but currently the only customization to the Learn More button is to change the language.

I'm also wanting to find a way to either change this language or hide it altogether due to legal restrictions about click thrus on a Kids application. Is there any plan to add this functionality? Would it be possible to put in a feature request? It seems like many people might want to customize this language to show the Ad/Sponsor Name or such... could be very helpful.

Thank you for your message. I’m afraid hiding the “Learn more” button is currently not supported by the IMA SDK. However, for the use case that you’re describing, let me create a feature request for this. In the meantime you can keep an eye on our release history and our blog for updates regarding this feature.

We also want to hide the "Learn More" button on the ima sdk.

Our use cases are:
(1) CTA is explicitly indicated on the video ad card  - there is no need to duplicate CTA in the video itself
(2) Client may have a logo in the video, the current position of the Learn More covers it, requiring clients to edit the video

Hi Joseph,

My team is asking in the case of the 'Filmed #withGalaxy' ad, if the 'Learn more' button was removed, how would users click/tap a CTA? The standard approach in mobile is the "Learn More" on top right of ad. Advertisers can avoid that area when serving mobile.

Hope you are doing fine. I just want to get back here as our team would like to know about your timeline for needing this feature. Can you share that to us? Asking this as right now we are working on a possible solution, but this would not be completed until mid-way through next year.

If that is too long to wait for you, we recommend PAL (https://developers.google.com/ad-manager/pal/html5) as an option which would let publishers directly manage all elements of an ads playback.
