HTML5 IMA SDK iOS Safari mute/unmute

Hi everyone,

There is an issue on iOS Safari where ads start with volume even though the content is muted. Also adsManager.setVolume(0/1) does nothing.

I am aware that on iOS devices changing volume on video elements has no effect. But this is not the case with muted attribute.
A solution could be to add set(get)Muted method that will effect muted attributes or set muted to true for setVolume(0) and to false for any other value.

Hi Marko,

I would assume that you are trying to play inline, in which case, you would have to add muted attribute to the video element. The setVolume() method would work if it's not autoplay inline for iOS.

Hi Deepika,

Our video element has a muted attribute. But the problem lies in the fact that the IMA, in this particular case uses it's own video element that doesn't. As stated in the link I sent in the previous post.
