I am going to try to raise this issue with Doubleclick, with the following information. As we don’t have any Doubleclick account, we can’t raise the ticket directly, so I will try to raise this with GroupM.

Find the message below:

We have spotted an issue running Doubleclick Vpaid JS wrapper when the publisher has IMA pre-loaded on their side. See the error below that we are seeing:

23% of VAST error 901: linked to the presence of an IMA adapter in the tag which causes a conflict with the IMA (pre-loaded) in our player

The following Vpaid JS mediafile unit, contains a vpaid_adapter. See the screenshot below:

 <MediaFile delivery="progressive" width="176" height="144" type="application/javascript" apiFramework="VPAID">

</MediaFile>

The adapter seems to be conflicting with the pre-loaded IMA.

We have thought about removing the Vpaid unit as they have already the IMA on their side. However, this won’t be the real solution, as it can prevent measuring viewability on the Advertiser’s side to compare potential discrepancies.

Have you heard about this issue? If so, what can be the potential solution to solve it?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Do you have any specific AdTag that reproduces this issue? Or a sample page for us to look into? We will be able to debug this further once you share the requested information. You can use "Reply Privately to Author" option to share the details privately.

Hi Deepika,

I hope you are well.

Thanks for your quick response. Here you can find IMA adapter tags, along with the original VPAID tags and the VAST inspector to test.

In summary, VAST 901 errors are caused by double loading IMA and this error is documented by Google:

"The VAST 901 error related to IMA is known to Google. You will find it listed in their documentation.

Here is an example tag containing an IMA adapter with VPAID.

https://ima3vpaid.appspot.com/?adTagUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fpixel.adsafeprotected.com%2Fvast%3FanId%3D926602%26campId%3DGRP_1117_VIDEOADEX_CPM_DESK_TEST-NEWPLAYER%26chanId%3Dcuisine.notrefamille.com%26placementId%3D0118-CNF-DESK-SMART%26pubOrder%3DVideoadex%26pubCreative%3Dsmart%26custom%3D5%26custom2%3DVideoadex%26IAS_VID_OPTS%3Dhidecountdown%26includeFlash%3Dfalse%26originalVast%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fpubads.g.doubleclick.net%252Fgampad%252Fads%253Fsz%253D640x480%2526iu%253D%252F124319096%252Fexternal%252Fsingle_ad_samples%2526ciu_szs%253D300x250%2526impl%253Ds%2526gdfp_req%253D1%2526env%253Dvp%2526output%253Dvast%2526unviewed_position_start%253D1%2526cust_params%253Ddeployment%25253Ddevsite%252526sample_ct%25253Dskippablelinear%2526correlator%253D__timestamp__&type=js

If you test it in the VAST inspector of GOOGLE you will see that it always causes a 901 error.
It is played without problem by the ad tester. "

Please let me know if you need anything else from me.

Thanks
Edu

Hi Edu,

Thanks for sharing the tags. I've discussed your issue with some of my teammates and we do no recommend using IMA Adapter tags within the IMA SDK. Since you're using an IMA adapter tag, you may want to try DFP's suggested solution for a VAST Error 901 as mentioned in the document.

This can occur when the "IMA Adapter" tag from Ad Exchange is used with the IMA SDK, and a VPAID ad is returned. You should use the "Direct SDK" tag from Ad Exchange when using the IMA SDK.

You can also contact the Publisher Support team via the CONTACT US button on this page.

Hi Deepika,

Thanks for the quick response.

Regarding your sentence:

What is the optimised way to check if a container tag or the nested ones contain a Doubleclick vpaid unit to use the direct SDK tag?

Thanks,
Edu

Hi Edu,

You'll have to reach out to Publisher Support for further clarification on this. Only the IMA SDK is supported on this forum. I'm not able to comment on DFP creative issues.

Hi Deepika,

Is there any possibility that you could help me to raise this query to the publisher support without going through the publisher support section. I have tried to find the solution in the publisher support, but I couldn't find how to raise the issue.

Thanks,
Edu
