Moat Flash VPAID ad not working inside Google IMA HTML5 SDK

Hi,

we are attempting to switch to IMA HTML5 SDK completely, and have ran into an issue with Moat Flash VPAID ads.
Example ad tag:

And here is this ad tag inside Video Suite Inspector:

As you can see the ad dispatches Loaded event and then it hangs. Inside the console all we see are these logs:

BA-P:main:__________vpaidSS()

BA-P:i:dvb__________init();

BA-P:main:__________getVPAID()

BA-P:main:__________getVPAID()

Changing VPAID modes didn't fix the problem.

Thanks for letting us know about this! 

I took a look, and it appeared there might be something that the Moat SWF wrapper isn't handling well. If you look at the media file node in the VAST's XML, it's composed of two parts: the Moat SWF wrapper (https://svastx.moatads.com/swf/moatwrapper.swf) and the actual creative that the wrapper redirects to (https%3a%2f%2fvast.brandads.net%2fvast%3fline_item%3d13723423&level1=GWK_TCA_DESKTOP&level2=GWK_BURST_TCA_$3&level3=burst&level4=preroll&slicer1=undefined&slicer2=undefined&pcode=vexigovpaid823483854014&spvb=1).  

However, I noticed that if I used our in-house VPAID loader (http://imasdk.googleapis.com/flash/sdkloader/vpaid1adsdk.swf), then the ad played.  Here's the VSI implementation of the modified tag to use our SWF loader.  I recommend reaching out to Moat to sync up on this issue.

Hello,

I'm using the HTML5 IMA SDKi, and I'm having a similar issue with a MOAT swf wrapper. In my case, I just get:

• (4:58:12 PM) Ads loaded.
• (4:58:14 PM) Ad event: loaded

And then just a black screen, and no ad or video content plays.

I'd like to know what the modified tag is to use in order to get MOAT ads to work... the link you provided:

Here's the VSI implementation of the modified tag to use our SWF loader.  I recommend reaching out to Moat to sync up on this issue.

Just points to the VSI... how would I use the in-house VPAID loader?

Hi there,

To use Google's in-house VPAID loader, simply use:

http://imasdk.googleapis.com/flash/sdkloader/vpaid1adsdk.swf? 

followed by the actual ad tag (which would be derived from the Moat tag), for example:

adTagUrl=https%3a%2f%2fvast.brandads.net%2fvast%3fline_item%3d13723423&level1=GWK_TCA_DESKTOP&level2=GWK_BURST_TCA_$3&level3=burst&level4=preroll&slicer1=undefined&slicer2=undefined&pcode=vexigovpaid823483854014&spvb=1

Please note that the use of another VPAID loader might affect your statistics, and should only be used for debugging purposes to narrow down the origin of an issue.
