Hi admin,

I have some questions about this topic, so please help me to clear it ^^

My player is ExoPlayer, the player has been integrated with IMA SDK long time ago (4 years)

Current version IMA SDK at my side:
1. Android:  3.10.2
2. IOS: 3.9.0

I see some requirements in order to use OM SDK at my current IMA SDK (IOS/Android):
  • To use Open Measurement you must have version (3.9.0/3.11.0) or greater of the IMA SDK for iOS.
=> I think this is the main update task that will help use the OM SDK immediately, right?

  • Ads must be configured to traffic <AdVerifications> in their VAST as per the VAST 4.1 spec if using VAST 4.1+; otherwise, <Extension type="AdVerifications"> should be used.
=> I use VAST 3.0 (not 4.0), so this is not required for me now, right?

  • Refrain from covering the AdDisplayContainer with any overlays (transparent or opaque), since these will be flagged as obstructions by the OM SDK and reduce viewability
=> This is really necessary for using the OM SDK effectively?

Conclusion, please confirm me that we just do 3 steps only as above for tracking VIEWABILITY successfully? If no, anything else?

Thanks a lot
Minh

Hi Minh,

Thank you for reaching out us. The IMA SDK for Android and iOS started supporting the OM SDK respectively on the v3.11.0 and v3.9.0, the previous versions can't be used with OM SDK. As you are using VAST 3.0 in your ad configurations, you'll need to add the XML element <Extension type="AdVerifications"> for your ads to be OM SDK compatible. Any object being rendered on top of the AdDisplayContainer will be flagged as obstruction by the OM SDK and therefore reduce viewability. For more information about the OM SDK implementation, we would recommend you to take a look the OM SDK on-boarding guide document published by the IAB.
