Hi guys,
I'm seeing an alarming behavior on mobile, Android Nexus 7.1.1 - while testing http://googleads.github.io/googleads-ima-html5/advanced/ using our test ad:
It looks like the player removes the ad before it manages to fire its completion pixel. i.e.
http://s.innovid.com/1x1.gif?placement_tag_id=0&r=7b85caa26dc38553effbc1c728f98ff3&viewer_id=b8c28f50bb12fb1c957a18a3843afec9&action=vpoint&session_id=f6c3098f0e2f8e28d2d07ebe7e5bb6be&client_id=231&channel_id=421899&project_state=2&video_id=89907&project_hash=1hinrn&placement_hash=1iholo&event_id=percent&website=imasdk.googleapis.com&publisher_id=1228&event_value=100&fver=null&ver=2.84

I see that the above pixel never fires. It looks like it is stalled and finally canceled: https://www.screencast.com/t/5JbGYtA6kxg and I think it's because the player removes the ad from the dom before it fires the VPAIDEvent.AdStopped.
The behavior seems to effect live campaigns as well as certification tests.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Gil,

Are you still running into this issue? I've been able to see the completion pixel fire without issue on my device (Pixel, Android 7.1.1). I'm trying to get my hands on a Nexus to run more tests.

It looks like it’s not happening all the time – I tested this now and wasn’t able to replicate on the 1st try. The 2nd attempt was successful though.

Hi Gil,

I'm responding via email because it looks like you deleted your post on the forum.

I've test about a dozen more times and am still not seeing the issue. Are there any specific circumstances where this is more likely to happen? Do you have detailed instructions on how you're able to reproduce? It would also be helpful if you could send along your Charles Network Logs.

As mentioned, I can reproduce on Chrome 5x 7.1.1 & most recently I found that it's happening on Chrome desktop, simulating a mobile device. https://www.screencast.com/t/klI84QKNvh7h

Hi Gil,

I was finally able reproduce the issue by throttling my network connection. I'm going to bring this to the rest of the team to investigate and I will get back to you as soon as we have any updates. Thank you for reaching out for support.

Hi Gil,

We've been investigating and it doesn't look like this is something that we can resolve on our end. The ad is firing the complete pixel from within the VPAID iframe. Before the pixel has finished firing, the ad calls AdStopped, causing the iframe to be cleaned up. The browser then cancels the pixel because the iframe that sent it is gone.

To solve this issue, we suggest doing one of the following:
1. Fire the tracking pixels in the standard vast tracking events fashion.
2. Add a delay or check to make sure the tracking pixel actually fired before the ad tells the player "AdStopped".
3. Add the tracking pixel into the DOM outside the iframe (not recommended as there would be no way to clean the DOM element afterward).  This also won't work with secure VPAID.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
