Video not displaying on Mobile

Hello,

We've made a lot of progress, into implementation but testing on mobile or on browser using mobile view, the video loads, starts but don't show.

The countdown received from the VAST and then the URL recognized.

I know you will already ask if it works on inpsector... yes it does but I have no idea WHY it doesn't work.

Just to update

From IMA Inspector when the mobile view is enabled I receive this error:
The ad response was not understood and cannot be parsed.

Complete error:  Ad error: AdError 1010: The ad response was not understood and cannot be parsed.

But this error only happens on mobile (actual device or on dev tools with mobile view), desktop it works correctly

Hi Fábio,

I checked in an iOS simulator, the iPAD works while an iPhone doesn't and checking in the Safari debugger, no VAST was returned. Our sample ad tag in IMA HTML5 Video Suite Inspector worked on the iPhone simulator. Usually the issue is with your ad tag supplier and we always suggest you reach out to your ad tag supplier with this issue.

Doing further testing, we used the debug version trying to identify the problem. On mobile this happens:

addEventListener error could be the reason for the video not being displayed?

Quick note, you need to enable CORS on your browser, it's not enabled on this testing URL

Hi Fábio,

I tried in a CORS policy off browser and the ad tag wasn't sent out in desktop mode and in mobile mode. You original ad tag is working when setting Chrome to 'device' mode. It appears that your ad tag can serve to mobile. 

Could you wire up a sample app with minimum modifications to address your use case and send it to us privately with steps to replicate?

The ad tag is from Google itself, so it should work anyway and we've already done the tests on standalone, what I am asking for help is we couldn't figure out what is causing this problem. Is it related to player size, aspect ratio, function order and to understand based on the developers and this group, why on Mobile it don't display the video, but on Desktop yes.

Hi ,

The reason I asked  you to wire up a sample app with minimum modifications to address your use case and send it to us privately with steps to replicate was so that we can narrow down the possible issues that prevent your tag from serving. The sample apps are considered correct integrations of the IMA SDK and can be a guide to your 'real' integration.

I wasn't able to see what is going on in your website, I tried in a Chrome browser with --disable-web-security --disable-site-isolation-trials and your website didn't load, a minimally modified sample app would clarify easier.

Michael here and I work along with Aryeh.

 

I have tested both the test page sample and vast ad tag url you shared. It is a bit unusual that when trying on our end the test page url sample and the vast tag itself returns an ads on both desktop and mobile while on yours it doesn't. Is there any other significant steps we are missing in order to replicate the same behavior?

I uninstalled all my extensions from Chrome, tested again on Desktop works, on the Galaxy S22 directly works, but when I change Chrome to mobile view it doesn't work and still through the same error.

Did you test on the actual phone or on your Chrome using mobile view?

This is what I get from Android remote debug:

I can receive the adDuration info, it's only the player that is not displayed. Works correctly on Desktop view in any OS, but on mobile (Android or iOS) this is the result.

This is Jackson from the IMA SDK team to help with your issue.
I tried reproducing the 1010 error using the VSI player, but instead saw a 1009 error. See attached screenshot.

Are there any additional steps needed to reproduce the 1010 error? 

Based on my testing, it seems that the ad tag URL may be set up to return certain ads on desktop, and not return ads on mobile. Would there be any way for you to confirm that the ad tag is correctly set up for mobile environments?

I saw you just replied showing this issue in your own app. Is the 1010 error reproducible in the VSI player or in any of IMA's HTML5 samples ?

Yes, it's not working on my application, a vast working on your VSI Player only, but consuming it on mobile says there are error for auto play, even with mute setup and doing exactly as the sample for Auto Play
