Hi guys,

Is there any method to capture the event when the ad is buffering? and also finished buffering?

Sometimes my ad is paused in the middle. I guess it is due to ad buffering.
However, I cannot find any event that can be used to capture this.
I tried kIMAAdEvent_PAUSE in didReceiveAdEvent delegate but it is not for my case.

Thanks.

Hey Donny,

Unfortunately the SDK doesn't support this currently. Could you give me an idea of your use case for this?

Hi Shawn,

I make my adview tappable so that when tapping on it, it can pause/resume the ad.
Sometimes the ad plays a while and pauses itself. I guess it is due to buffering/streaming the ad.
I need to tap the adview to resume the ad.

If there is an event/delegate method for it, I can display a loading spinner when buffering, and auto resume the ad when finishes buffering.

Thanks,
Donny

Hey Donny,

Just to make sure I understand this - are you saying the ad will occasionally stop (perhaps to buffer) and then *not* restart on its own? If so that sounds like a bug and we would definitely want to take a look at it. Do you have a way of reliably reproducing the issue? I'll continue to look into the possibility of adding buffering events as well.

Thanks,

Hi Shawn,

Yes you are right! it stops and not restarts on its own.

I am afraid I don't have a reliable way to reproduce it because the ad server is not controlled by me.
I simply send an adtag to request an ad to display.

Thanks,
Donny

Hey Donny,

Thanks for the info. I haven't seen this issue yet, so if you find a way to reliably reproduce it let me know. In the mean time I'll work with the team to see if we would consider adding the buffering events as you requested.

Thanks,

I recently built an integration with a different SDK that does offer the ad buffering events. The use case was that under low bandwidth before a pre-roll is played or between ads in an ad pod, there was no visual feedback to the user of what was going on. The ad buffer events allowed to add a loading icon in those situations.

Right Oscar! A loading spinner can be added because of this, telling user the ad is buffering.

Thanks Shawn, would like to see it available in the coming version.
