AdEvent.Type.AD_BUFFERING not fired

Hello, it seems that following new release of 11/8/2018 - 3.254.0

the AdEvent.Type.AD_BUFFERING is never fired

any input on that ?

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us. As stated in the release note, the AdEvent.Type.AD_BUFFERING will fire if only the ad playback has stalled due to buffering. If the ad playback doesn't get in a buffering state, the AdEvent.Type.AD_BUFFERING won't fire. To be able to monitor this event, you have to register to it and use it with the onAdEvent function as implemented in the Codepen demo of the documentation.

Hi,

I do receive the event(AD_BUFFERING) for non-VPAID Ad using Google IMA version 3.258.2 on Mac Os Chrome Browser. But, I don't receive the event for VPAID Ad. Is this behavior expected? Please let me know. I use Charles to throttle the VPAID MP4 content and do see the Ad being frozen.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We were not able to reproduce the issue you described previously. Can you share  with more details the steps required to reproduce the issue? A video recording of the issue would help us better investigate the AD_BUFFERING event not firing.

i added the listener for AD_BUFFERING

and also added a console.log() to display ad events in console

and here is a video showing that even when ad is strongly buffering, no event is fired :

I was able to reproduce the behavior that you’re seeing with AD_BUFFERING event not firing while ad playback has stalled due to buffering. Our team is going to review the issue. I will get back to you with more information as soon as possible.

Can you please confirm if you were able to reproduce(Not seeing AD_BUFFERING) it with a VPAID Ad? I was seeing the problem with VPAID ad. Sorry, I could not get around to sending you a video of the problem.

Hi Raghav,

We were not able to fire the AD_BUFFERING event requesting a VPAID linear ad tag. We were already aware of the issue and currently the team is reviewing it. We'll get back to this thread once we have our findings.
