Implement IMA SDK for Android TV.

Hi,

I am working on a project where we have to integrate video ads into our content. So basically the app which I am working on is an OTT app and we want to monetise it with the help of video ads. By doing some research I got to know that this we can do with the help of Google IMA SDK, since in our application we are already using exoplayer and it has support for IMA.

I referred this documentation and find out its pretty easy to do so. I understood that how to integrate ads loader in the exoplayer and integrate IMA sdk. The only challenge I am facing is to from we can fetch the ads? Can we use Google AdMob to fetch ads and monetise it? or should I use any other platform for it?

Hi, you can use any platform that generates VAST XML which is the standard for the ads - any ad server will do.

I don't think you can use AdMob specifically, but I might be googlewrong :)

Marko is correct, IMA SDK is different from Google AdMob. AdMob is just another SDK on how you can deliver ads. However, we do not support that product ourselves, so should you need further information on that we would recommend posting your concern to AdMob community forum.

 

Moving forward to your question of where you can fetch ads, correct me if I am but I believe what you are trying to say here is where exactly you can create the ads is that correct? If so, the answer would be from your ad server. One possible option is through Ad Manager, and should you choose this option, you may follow the guide here for generating video and audio tags. Should you need further assistance on that, you may reach out to publisher-support team.
